Chris, yes, I saw this picture and it really made me sad and needed to write something. I admire these soldiers who work SO hard to recover. From PTSD along with the physical issues all at once. Thank you for your very kind review. Sue

A very emotional poem. The damage that war does by crippling the young is unbelievable. Very good imagery and descriptive scheme.

Thank you very much for your very kind review and comments. I see you live in Arizona. I lived in Paradise Valley up until just over a year ago. I miss Arizona with all my heart. Practically not a day goes by that I don't think about it. Unfortunate, due to life's circumstances I had to return to my home state of Ohio. I love the desert so much!! Sue :-))

I use to work in Paradise Vally in the sixties. It was wild back then. We killed snakes, scorpions and tarantulas in the store. Killed a wild cat in the parking lot.
-
Oh yes, back in the 60's it most definitely would have been "the outback" - ha!
If the opportunity arises, I am coming back.
-
thirty-second st and shea --thirty minutes to Saguaro Lake. I could drive across Phoenix in twenty minutes.
-
Just south of Doubletree and 64th. Can't stand writing about it. I miss it THAT much!!
I used to go to a landscape nursery.
Took Shea west to Tatum. North on Tatum and I believe it was about 3 miles north of Thunderbird. Sure miss all my gardening, too.
(boo-hoo!)
-
If it the one with all the desert plants, I've been there.
-
I lived in Camelback Country Club just off the golf course. Had a desert garden in front with about 6 humongous eucalyptus trees, palms everywhere, olive trees, mesquites and a garden I so loved to take care of 52 weeks of the year.
I'm getting so homesick writing about it.
-
Phoenix and Tucson are off limits to me. I can visit for a couple of days then I have to head for the high country. I became allergic to over seventy-five per cent of the Sonorian Desert plants. I live just below the Canadian Zone now.

Radio, thank you for sharing your own feelings about this. I saw this photo and really needed to express something for the trauma he went through and the courage it took to recover and go on. Thanks for your very kind review. Sue

This hurt to see and read but we all need to remember and be thankful, aware of the costs, the loss, the sacrifice born by so many. This is a good senryu, Sue! :)

Yes, I knew it would not be a happy thing for all to read, but we write what touches us. Saw this photo and really needed to write something. Thanks very much for your very kind review. Sue

what a lovely and touching tribute to those wounded by the war. How incomprehensibly difficult some of them must find their recovery, in just the physical, let alone the mental. Thanks for sharing and making us take a moment to think of their scarifice. Great job.

Yes, their lives are forever altered. And the PTSD they have to deal with ALONG with the physical devastation is so sad. That's why I like to say they have some triumph over it. It takes so much fight and courage to do that. Thank you for sharing your own thoughts and for your very kind review. Sue

Your poem is very thought provoking and in a few words, powerful. It is sad that our men deal with this. I appreciate your authors notes which explain things better.

Ain't technology great? Not. I am constantly amazed that we must continue this reasearch. But if not we fall behind and our country isn't protected. joan marie

I would have to say that a lot was said with just a few words. I really enjoy pieces that accomplish that. And the picture really brings it home. Great Job!
