"Dressed for Love" is a beautifully written short poem. I liked the words, masquerade party, because that's exactly what they look like with the black color in their face. What beautiful music they make and such bright colors too.

Oh, I love a Cardinal bird! I see females more than males, but only males have this bright red color! Beautiful tribute to this rare phenomenon, your joyful words paint a picture of their own, but the picture is a treasure! Love a metaphor in the second line. A pleasure to read and review. As a haiku, it had a perfect 5/7/5 structure, with good break between the first 2 lines and a stunning satori (Japanese for "moment of insight") in the last line.

yeltel, the cardinal is my favorite N. American bird. They are precious and so beautiful. I've been practicing my haiku for about a week (not posting) because I felt a weakness in my previous ones, but must say that I felt this one had the goods that I had been wanting to fulfill. Thank you so much for your lovely review. So glad you liked my satori. With regards, Sue

This Hikau of yours is simply superb.
In Hawaii where I lived for so long, we had cardinals that were brought over from the mainland. I had two pair that lived there with us for the ten years that we lived in that home. They were wonderful.
Nicely done

What a beautiful bird, with his lovely red color.
I especially like the idea of a masquerade party.
You have captured the beauty of this bird in the cold cold winter.

This is one of the best haiku's I've read on fanstory. I love everything about it. It manages to say so much in so few words. "Vestment lures a spring lover" : Wonderful! The last line is also great --- funny yet with an element of truth. (Thanks for the interesting author notes.) Bravo!

Hello Sixteezkid,
I enjoyed this beautiful Haiku poem.
Good word choice and syllable count - great
imagery ... masquerade party.
Cardinals are a favorite of mine. I have them
in my yard - now I'll know which ones are male
vs. female.
Thanks for sharing.
Regards, LateBloomer

sixties,
This haiku has it all. It's beautiful, it's about nature; it has proper morae and a clear kigo. Few haiku on FS meet the standards of a traditional haiku. Great job. I really liked it.

I love cardinals. We have six mated pairs that frequent our bird feeder. The males look so flashy and the females, gentle in their muted hues. I don't think birds get much more magnificent than the cardinals. Super the imagery in this one. Blessings, Linda
