Once again you have my sympathy. I like your current attitude and your rainbow. I certainly agree that life is all important an a crisis.situation so give thanks to God for what you have and remember "Adversity Builds Character' and gives you something new to write about.

the rainbow is perfect. easy to read and follow. no spaggies do i see. imagery is excellent. the picture is very telling. so the mattresses are burned due to contamination? what about the animals? are they okay? i am so glad about your son coming back from iraq. it seems like it has been a while since i saw you here. keep up the good work~

PS The animals are all fine. Yes, the mattresses were ruined, but FEMA came in and helped us out. :-) Thank you for your concern - bless your heart for caring.

I would not do good in a flood that's why God has me living in the dry desert.

It's amazing how we get perspective though isn't it? As you said, your son went to Iraq and came back alive. My friend's son too. Her rainbow was when her daughter graduated high school just after her son came back from a year in Iraq in Fallujah. Someone asked her "Won't you be worried about your daughter when she goes to college so far from home?" she replied "God just brought my son home from Iraq alive, no I'm not worried about her being only 6 hours away!" It was only when we were talking afterwards that she said 'You know what 18 months ago I would have freaked at her being so far away - but it's not Iraq."

This gives one true perspective on what a real tragedy is. The house is flooded but your tears are dry because your son survived war and possible injury. Hope he enjoyed my home country! Thanks for having the time to share this.

PS Do you come from Iraq? Dan says it is very, very hot there. Of course they had to wear such heavy, protective gear. :-)

You know, the minute I saw the "New Writing" message in my PM inbox, I started thinking about your Dan and wondering how he is.
This is a fine telling, well-told and well-constructed. (I've gone off using the word "story" about real events.) Nice to see hyphenation appearing, not many people here know how to use it, I think! In fact the only, the ONLY, suggestion I have to make is to perhaps put a comma after "especially after a heavy spring-thaw" in the second paragraph.
Good luck with your clean-up - it's a pain but as you say, nobody was hurt, nobody was killed, and that's what matters. (Wonder what Joel will say when he gets home!)

What an amazing story! You are lucky that no one was hurt, and that you do have the top floor to live in! Obviously you still have power...to access the computer. What I love is your attitude. Instead of dwelling on what was lost, you look toward the future.
