This is a horrible story. I hate to think how often this type of lie is used to escape punishment. It must have been difficult to write, having to re-live the event. Well done.

Yes, it was. Cause I still remember it like it was yesterday. She was just a small little thing. I'm pretty her sister looks exactly like her. I felt she deserved a place. Thank you for reading and offering your thoughts and for the great rating too. I hope you're enjoying your evening!

Wow, Lea. I'm sure through all these years you've heard every, word, phrase and comment on the despicableness of this event. A terrible shame and the shamelessness of those two not taking responsibility for their actioms.
Excellent written poem on an extremely difficult subject matter.

Your sixth stanza first line, is not clear, and your message below the poem you have "It hecame ...."
Look them both over.
You have good couplets.
As far as the story, I liked how you shared what happened with others and I am sorry. Congratulations on being Recognized.

What a sad story, Lea, about two miscreants who hadn't the decency to own up to this tragic event but instead chose to lie about it. Extra sad in that it was a true story.
I loved the dimeter meter you wrote this in. It gave a steady, pulsing beat to the poem that was very effective.

Thank you, Jim. I'm glad you like it.It is, and was a sad event. Took me a long time to recover from that. Let's see. I hate to say it, but the smell of death is overpowering and something you can't get rid of right away. A very tragic poem that is shocking to read. I have heard of several accidents caused by alcohol, boating, ATV's, motorcycles... This should be classified as murder.

You're absolutely right it should be. Unfortunately, the father and the friend got away with it. Because the police could not prove the alcohol consumption to the time at atv rolled down the ravine. Her mother found me and asked me to come tell her what really happened, because her husband wouldn't tell her all he would say that the last thing their daughter said was daddy, it hurts. That broke my heart. It was hard to tell her I knew she needed the truth. Thank you so much for writing and reading and offering your kind comments and your great rating.
