This is a lovely story, and the doll in the picture is adorable in her red dress. I couldn't blame you for wanting that doll. You tell an interesting story about how you got the doll at an auction and then had to get a replacement doll. It definitely looks like it belongs on a bed, and you have had it for many years. A great story. judi

It is hard to watch those we love go through such times and then it becomes a blessing when they are no longer suffering and we have to go on alone. But your Miss Cortez helped you through and now, your loving granddaughter has given you the gift of the lovely Miss Glendale to treasure. Well written, Patricia.
cheers

I'm sorry you had all that heartache but I know God is planning a Gret Reunion one day for both of you. 1995 was a horrendous yer for me, also. On December 12, my father died (a heart attack in front of me) and on December 26, my mom died. In between, I had a very painful kidney stone. But, I believe The Lord arranged that hospital stay and the meds so I could lay down and relax in the middle of what was going on.

I still have a doll that my own mother bought after my dad died. She named her Joy and when mom passed, no one wanted the doll. Of course, I took her. I pull her out at holidays and will even buy baby clothes to fir her. I understand your connection with your doll. Gretchen

Isn't that funny, buying a doll? But then, why not? I think what your granddaughter did for you is outstanding, her love was such that all she wanted to do was make you happy. That is one loving granddaughter, well done, to her, beautifully written, blessings Roy
Typo : I now (have) the doll on my bed. 2: the doll(,) when I bought her

A very touching non-fiction story. I could not feel the pain that you and your husband went through, I can't even imagine the suffering but I do pray for you and all those suffering.

I loved this story. What a precious gift your granddaughter gave to you. It really is a lovely crocheted doll. I love the color of her dress and the way it flows out around her onto the bed. Thanks for sharing this story.
