I enjoyed reading your poem. I think taking good pictures is a skill. The rhymes were done well. The poem was descriptive and well written. Good luck in the contest.

Thanks, Brenda. I, myself, do not know how to take a good photograph.

Being a photographer myself I must say you've captured the essence perfectly. You must be one too.
Wonderful stanzas in 8/6 although you wandered off that meter a few times. It still reads smootly.
You've done a splendid job capturing the heart of the photographer.
Well done!

Thanks, Ka. I do not take good pictures. I have talked with two friends who are great photographers. I tried to learn a little from them.

I love photography. At least you understand the inclination. I gave it up when things got too digital. I prefer film.

Since I spent a lot of time taking pictures when I was younger, I could relate to this. I think you captured something of the photographers fascination with holding on to the brighter moments of life, be they portraits of loved ones, sunrises, sunsets, flowers blooming in the spring; we all have that impulse to hang on to these moments and the camera gave us that ability. For many years I used an Olympus with slide film, then I went digital and got a Canon Rebel. Now I just do what everyone else does and use the cell phone. estory

Thanks for the review, estory. I have a few projects where I find a great photo and then write a poem to go with it.

An excellent poem and a wonderful entry for the contest. This one deserves to do well with its various snapshots of the objects which a gifted photographer might focus on. There are a couple of â symbols in your last two lines, maybe because there are quotation marks (which aren't really necessary). I wish you success for this special poem.

This is very well done. It is clear and easy to follow. Like a clear photograph. Good writing. Good accompaning picture. You reminded me of when I was a kid with a new camera, snapping everything in sight. Heady days. I felt like an "artist".Karen

Thanks, Karen. I can hardly remember when I was a kid.

I don't remember my kid years unless someone brings up a particular event, and then memories come. I was sick a lot and on tons of medicines through the years, so it is a bit of a wonder I remember anything. Enjoy the reast of the week. Love to you and yuors. Karen

a brilliant poem that captures the essence of being a photographer documenting life as it occurs all around us I like the concrete images and the overall optimistic feeling of the poem

A fabulous rhyming poem and it gives us a great portrait of an artist, writer, or photographer. But these lines make it clear which artist it is:
"So you'll continue on your quest
For Kodak's holy grail,
And as you seek that sacred cup
Upon a well worn trail,"
Best wishes in the contest!!

Thanks, Helen. It's interesting to compare what we do with what photographers do.

Ciao!
An engaging topic!
When I got my first iPhone in 2015 I saw I had the photo option . I started taking my phone even on my morning walks.
It's addictive , I started search for that perfect shot.
The sun, a red ball , rising.
Bright flowers in a field , a blackbird feasting in a green patch.
The mountain range ( the Alps) in the distance covered in snow.
Some Photographers spend weeks in the wild to capture Mother Nature in all Her glory.
I love checking out the Best Photos of the year, the winning shots are breath taking.

This is a beautiful and touching description of a photographer. I'm not sure what is happening with the punctuation and phonetical marks in the last two lines, but I enjoyed reading your poem. Thank you!

You have beautifully described what it is like to capture the perfect picture. Because of your smoothly paced rhythm and rhymes, your poem is easy to read and enjoy. Best wishes in the contest.

Thanks, Lorraine. A picture is worth a thousand words for a skilled photographer, but the pictures that I take can be described with just a handful.
