Great advice! It is no longer necessary in most cases, to spend $5,000 on a hearing aid. A dear friend recently had her hearing checked and, although she did not realize the amount of "range" she'd lost -- she's a new, more social woman suddenly!

Thank you so much for your kind. I got a new set of hearing aids about two years ago and they are programmable and they cost me less than $1000 which is quite a bit of difference from $5000. There are some hearing aids that you can get today that are much more expensive than $100 or thousand dollars, but there are those that are less than than 502.

I haven't heard many people who've had great luck with the over the counter ones you can pick up at CVS or order from Amazon. But if you see an audiologist he or she is happy to direct you to the brand and strength you're going to have the most improvement with!

It is a very good idea to see it all theologist and have you hearing aids done with them. Medicare now covers a part of the cost of hearing aids. Hearing aids that only help with our hearing, but hearing aids also helps with our balance, believe it or not when our hearing is off, our balance is not good.

Indeed. As a retired nurse with a son who was deaf for years (who now has some hearing with a cochlear implant) -- I can attest to the hearing and balance interface!

I've never seen a nonet about a trip to get ears and aids checked. How creative of you to try that! I'm glad they were able to help you hear better.

My wife always said I need a hearing aid. Even today, I have to say, "excuse me" and "I'm sorry, what did you say?" But I am alone for the moment, and I'm used to myself.

Funny that you posted this today. I got a hearing aid just two days ago. Like you say, it is making me very happy. I'm surprised how helpful it actually is. I still have to test it with my grandchildren who I really have trouble understanding. Fingers crossed.

I'm having my hearing tested but can't get in until January. I fear I'll need hearing aids, but the majority of people I know have them. I know I'll get used to them. Thank you for sharing.
