deeper meanings.

tide rolls away and you wait for it to roll in again.

and soften hard feelings.

in the concluding verses that reflect varying emotions.

Very descriptive and beautiful powerful imagery, and very thought-provoking. I see the sea as the trials and experiences of life, relentless, but pounding, smoothing and fashioning the person into a refined shape with a new perspective. Very well written.

What a great metaphor, land and stone. I believe this is relatable to us humans as well. I love the ocean. I find myself there often, fishing and relaxing.

This poem has strong and vivid images. The relationship between the sea and the shore is used really well as a metaphor for human relationships. I think free verse was a good choice for this poem as it gave you freedom to explore the ideas without constraint.

Strange, how in our moments of peace, we see clearly our world and those we love - and the pain too! Yet, when the "tide" returns we are mesmerized and like the stone, we can not move away.... rooted and stripped.

This free verse can be applied to human relationships, as well as the literal sea and stone. Some people are steady as a rock, while others ebb and flow like the tide. Opposites do attract one another...

I like your personification of the sea and the stone. I'm not quite sure if it's a positive relationship. I think it's good that the sea smooths out the stone but perhaps the stone feels that the sea is fickle, just coming and going. It sounds like the stone feels that the sea lacks substance and only reflects the passion of fire but doesn't possess it.
