Unfortunately, I am out of sixes. I would have offered you one for this insightful and well-written poem. It's so sad that he has these episodes, but fortunate that his meds keep him gentle for most of the time. You are right, this mental illness is the primary reason for many crimes committed. Well done, also for raising awareness about it. Thanks for sharing.

There is a lot we don't understand about the brain and how it operates and it is very sad that your brother suffers like this and has to take daily medicine. A fine poem with good rhymes to tell your story here Pam, love Dolly x

Very well written Pam. I have a sister-in-law who suffers from schizophrenia. As long as she is medicated, she manages ok but the side effects of the medication is hard on her. She is so bright- college educated, etc but this horrific disease knows no boundaries.

I appreciate the fact that, having experienced mental issues personally and with family, you discuss those who suffer from them with respect and understanding. With that showing through your words, it allows the reader to read it with equal understanding and not disdain. Even when the character in the poem kills his sister, you make the reader believe he honestly thought he was saving her.
Your poem is interesting and informative, and your personal experiences even moreso. Thank you for opening up about your related family issues.

I understand that people who suffer from schizophrenia can live normal lives, if they continue to take their medications. Unfortunately, they sometimes fail to do that. Thank you for highlighting this disease. It's a real problem that effects many.

Once again, thank you for sharing your experiences with this devastating disease. I have some familiarity with it as my daughter has schizophrenic tendencies and we've dealt with and still are dealing with them. Your poem is compelling with good rhyme and meter and tells a sad story. Well done!
