I enjoyed the prose and the tragic story of you losing your mum at such a very young age, it doesn't seem fair, it's way too young for a child to be left without a parent, particularly your favourite people in the world, beautifully written, blessings Roy

Another fine write, Gypsy. Man that must have been rough. I remember when I was little that was my biggest fear, to suddenly be faced with what happened to you. That's a lot for a kid to deal with.

I don't like the smell of chrysanthemums but they are a hardy flower blooming until the first frost. They are a funeral flower in several cultures. I like how you share about how it impacted you and the brief moment that there was hope that your mom was alive. And we know she's more alive than we are - in Heaven!

A haibun! Mountaineriter's favourite form, I think. We don't see many of them on site these days. I thought this one particularly effective, with the highly emotive prose element being so succinctly summarised in the haiku. Greatly enjoyed and well-worthy of a sixth star, but sadly ...

Omigoodness, Gypsy; I had no idea you had suffered such a trauma at such a tender age. You wrote about it with such clarity and expression that it was all but palpable. xoxo

I did find this teeny spag:
overwhelming that **(it)** made me sick.

Gypsy, that story was deeply moving. Brings me to tears. We have smells and sounds that carry emotion with them. You were so young to lose mom at 10. Thanks for sharing. Esther

So beautiful and moving. You captured the feeling of losing one's parent. I lost my father at 13 years-old. I remember the smell of the funeral home to this day. Your haiku was stunning. The drooping mums, they represented the lost hope. Its tough to lose someone that important. This was beautiful. Gretchen
