An excellent yet very naughty entry for the Flash Fiction contest! Yes, I said it. That was very naughty! I was tearing up at the thought of a sweet little puppy laying dead in the road and then we learn that a gnarled black sweater has reached its demise! NAUGHTY! But a good story and a great twist as much as I hate to admit it. Good luck in the contest.

LOL. Super review - you made me laugh. It was a bit naughty - but did I ever say it was an "animal"? Even my title said "NOT another hit and run!" Lol, I did have fun here. Thank you so much for reviewing. No need for tears or tissues after all.

What a clever ending for a clever story. I love your ending. It's difficult to get a really great surprise ending, but you achieved it. I hope this is a winner in the contest.

A good twist with the black jumper, Wendy in your flash fiction story. At first I was thinking a dog, then I though that a bird had been knocked, but no, 'twas a jumper. And it will be needed as it's getting cooler now. Well done, a good story.
cheers,
valda

Wait! It's much too late for April Fools!
Here I was sagging into depression at the thought of the poor deceased...

SWEATER!?

You got me, but good, Wendy!

Lol. Glad I got you!! Hoping I wasn't being too predictable - but I didn't actually SAY it was a dead animal, now did I? Thanks so much for a great review. Made me laugh!! A poor deceased ... sweater!!

I HAVE a sweater that deserves such a fate...

Alas, it is raggedy but oh so warm and toasty!

    What a great flash!

Just when I was beginning to feel sorry for a wounded animal left on the road, Jane's discovery gave the story a surprise ending. it was a black sweater. Very creative. Best wishes in the contest.

I must admit that there's nothing more distressing than seeing a poor dead animal, even someone's dear precious pets. This is a most concerning thing, good luck, blessings Roy

Lol. But it wasn't a dead animal - it was a black cardigan. That was the twist at the end. Thank you for reviewing.

Lol. You weren't the only one to think it was an animal (even though I never said so). I wanted people to think it was, right to the last sentence, and then voilà - a happy ending. Thanks Roy.

Well done Wendy,
you set the stage for some tragic event, and I was certain it was a little poodle or a kitten, but then it turned out to be a sweater. I loved this. Your imagination is serving you well. Good luck in the contest.
Blessings,
Tom
