I think there's a little bit of hoarding in all of us, but some will actually fill up a house with so much stuff they have no room to move, it's quite a disease, hard to cure, what a wonderful ballad style poem, well donr, blessings Roy

Roy, I believe you are right, but her mess is restricted to containers and all upstairs in her house. So thanks for your kind comments for this poem. It means a lot to me.

I enjoyed this poem! I am glad that your friend is not a hoarder, but you told a great story about her mess. Thank you for sharing, and best wishes to you.

This work has reached the exceptional level

So well told here, the situation with regard to hoarding and not being able to let go, or putting it another way, finding a reason to hold on to 'stuff'- a reflection on both sides of the argument.

I think I recognise this write:)) I love the way you've found so many superb rhymes for 'mess' and incorporated them into this very relatable story of a hoarder, the sort all of us know! It really seems to be a case of out of sight, out of mind. A great entry! Good luck! Debbie

Hi Debbie, this friend that I speak of has her treasures stored in bins and put in stacks in the upstairs or her house. I was surprised that people could be judgmental even hearing that throwing was like a disease for her after living a tragic life. When I think of a hoarder, I think of a person with garbage piled high and someone with a house unlike hers. But that's what happens when you enter a contest called a mess. LOL

I have to laugh because just a couple of days ago my cousin was talking about the things she's saving for after the days she is gone... hoping her kids will want them.
They might... might not...
For me... recently I have been going through things and having my kids and grandkids take things now... so I know what they want and can enjoy seeing it and watch them enjoying these things while I am alive and can share it with them. Good luck in the contest.

Hi gramalot. I do the same thing, but kids don't seem to want those treasures anymore. But thanks for your kind comments for this poem. It means a lot to me

Hi
This is a well written poem using repetition well to emphasize her mess.
At least it really isn't hoarding and is confined to the attic. Some of those things would be interesting to see. I think this is true of a lot of once poor people.
Keep writing and stay healthy.
Good luck in the contest.
Hope your having a good weekend.
Joan

I was just thinking of how much we all accumulate throughout the years and yes, everything has a memory and an attachment to a special time regarding loved ones.

This poem really made me smile. Yes old habits are difficult to get rid of. Especially if you you've experienced poverty. Then I can imagine it would be difficult to throw anything away. Ulla:)))

An excellent entry for the What a Mess writing prompt. Some call it organized keeping. Some call it hoarding. I call it sad for those who end up with it after the "collector" leaves this Earth. I can speak because my family has an entire farm full of stuff left here by a family member. Nicely written poem. Good luck.

Hi Marilyn, you wouldn't think it so sad if you saw what those kids will inherit that is so neatly packed away in those bins upstairs. Sorry for your family's ordeal. Ugh, that would be awful... But thanks for your kind comments for this poem. It means a lot to me
