More intrigue - seems the chief of police isn't as white as the snow himself, and has a hunger for power which is quite malevolent. Some of the other characters I'm still trying to work out. Like life, they are complex and an intriguing mix of good and bad. Very well written, and I am looking forward to more.

I'm glad that you mentioned the mixture of good and bad in my characters. I am beginning to face the fact that depending who is looking at us, they can see a bit of good and bad. Complexed.... a good word.

Used all my six stars up. I know this sounds silly but don't bad guys drink whiskey or something stronger than wine? I don't know about mob....Italian guys drink wine and Frenchmen?
I loved it. The panic Allie experienced gripped me. Now you did it again and left me hanging!

Usually I have the guys drinking the hard stuff, but these are Italians and they like their vino. Thank you again for reading and enjoying my story. It means a lot to me.

So I'm getting the feeling the good guys, the chief of police , are the bad guys. And the bad guys, Frankie and co. are the good guys. Or maybe it's just not that straightforward. Life rarely is! I am still trying to get a feel here for the dynamics. There is a truth here that is being hidden or subverted. Definitely gripping and intriguing!

Just wanted to check. This seems like a spoken line, but there are no quotes.

Someday, we'll sit together, share a few glasses of wine, and I'll tell you the whole story, but for now, let's just worry about Troy.

Keep up great writing! Julie

I would give you a six if I could. They dissipate early.
Wonderful wonderful work. I am glued to the computer and FanStory wanting more. You are in your prime writing. Karen

Yes, I feel energized and excited to sit at my computer early morning and throughout the day...even in the middle of the night at times. It's refreshing and exhilarating to write again. Especially when people enjoy it.

I am old and I tell you the truth. You have a wonderful gift. I am in awe of it. I cannot write a novel. Trying to causes me extra pain, because it is not natural to me. I stopped fighting the natural bent. I write short stories. Some times poems. You are sooooo good. Enjoythe ride. Karen

You have no idea how much that means to me. I'd actually given up, but a friend kept urging me to write again. I'd made a promise to my husband, but it seemed impossible to fill. Then one day after Christmas (after another of my daughter's bombshells) I sat down and the story started spilling out of me. I guess I just needed the right trigger.

I have found that we can bury our storytelling under family obligation, suffering, illness, pain, family drama, and a million other things. But, It will push itself through the frozen tundra eventually and stumble out to be heard. We are the vehicle, and the muse drives us. Karen :-)

I'm going to need to start going to Twelve Step meetings because I'm addicted to your writing! You've got enough mysteries for us to solve already and you're only just putting your foot on the gas.

Mob guys and politics...just like what's going on in our country! Yikes!

Thanks so much for the flattery. Keep it coming! Helps me to write faster. LOL though I just realized I've made an error with one of the characters and now I've got to figure a magical way to make it work. Got ahead of myself I think. Wish me luck.

I"m going to try to keep the questions at a minimum and wait for the story to unfold. I[m enjoying the story and waiting to see what well happen.
Alyssa is in panic and I thought she knew Troy but she says she never met him. This seems unusal for someone in law enforcement to be so freaked out.

Remember, she was just a polic officer who got promoted to do the undercover job after her friend was murdered. She's really out of her league, but she's scrapy. She didn't know Troy...but she believed he raped and murdered her friend. That's why she wanted him to stay in prison.
    Hope that helps.

I wonder what has shaken Alyssa to mske her panic the way she has, and who did she knock over to add to her panic.? Meanwhile Troy Sinclair is in good hands, but that's no guarantee, well done, blessings Roy

Poor Allie was promoted to her friends undercover position and she's really a fish out of water. Add to that, someone is trying to mess with her mind and we've got problems.
And Troy is in good hands, but I think his brother will take advantage of his disappearance.

I think it's a headset before when reading your stories that I enjoyed them immensely because of the fact that you have so much conversation going on in the stories. I am one who always looks for conversation and stories, so that I can really enjoy them and can start to picture the people that are speaking. This is a very well written chapter and I enjoyed it very much. Have a good day and may God bless you. Patricia .

Yes, I think conversation makes the story flow better especially if it's being listened to. Glad you are enjoying.

This is another strong chapter. The dialogue is sharp and kept me engaged in the story. The suspense high throughout which also helped! The pacing is excellent.
