Hi MariVal,
how so very nostalgic, as I picture this scene and the innocence attached within that thought.

Five syllables per line... nice, tidy that produces a balance in verse.
I love the word 'tyke'. You don't hear it much anymore... although I still use it when the occasion arises.

Reading this seemingly innocent poem transports me to the place in your mind and memory where you felt safe, when life still held the wonders of childhood... oh how I wish those years would never fade into obscurity.

Most beautiful composition and presentation MariVal.

All my sincere wishes of success in this contest.

With our thoughts we create...
an open channel.

Warmest regards,
James.

For the most part, I loved being a kid. I could fly in my dreams...it felt so real...maybe it was. I liked walking in the rain ....in my raincoat pocket.... chocolate , the magic dies when adults take it away. I never felt safe...you know my story.

Thank you very much for your exceptional review, kind words, and insightful feedback.

    Con cariño

Well, at least one of us did... enjoy being a kid that is.
My favorite time to run was in the rain, it filled my soul with energy... hmmmm, maybe it cleansed away all the crap that was attached to me?
Storms and lightning... I go into it, feel the massive energy in the air... sometimes lay on my back in my swimming pool and watch the proceedings. Jade freaks out I'm going to get zapped one day... but we have to go some way, hey!
Thank you my dear kind-caring friend... you float in my thoughts.

I have to agree with Jade, please don't get zapped, I care about you, I don't want a crispy James LoL I love storms too, but from my house. It's so powerful and immense, it makes me feel small, not in a bad way. I feel the same way about the ocean. I like to sit on the beach in meditation pose and face the sea.... so awesome and divine.

besitos y abrazos, I hope you and Jade have a wonderful weekend!

I love this poem. I also followed, tried catching fireflies, and landed in a mud puddle. Was this what you did when you were a youngster, too? To see them light up in a jar was amazing.

I haven't seen fireflies in ten years so this was a delightful return to the past when grandma's back yard held many delights.

Wishing you great luck with the Contest Committee with this gem. :)

I love this. The pictures are beautiful. I like how you added the one at the end with the fireflies in the jar. It reminds me of being a kid too, chasing fireflies at night.
Well done!

Your twelve words convey the wonderment of childhood and simple discoveries like fireflies. Indeed, your heart somehow captured that magical light that fireflies had as they blinked. Rod

Hi Gypsy, I love this poem. I could see the whole scene. Catching fire flies was something that I use to do when I visited my aunt's home in the countryside. I grew up in the middle of NYC--no fire flies.

Gorgeous presentation and photos. A pleasure to read. As this is a contest entry, I wish you good luck. Xo. Margaret

I like the "my heart full of light" as it reflects on the light of the fireflies as well as the light of joy and feeling light as those flying bugs. Hope this does well in the contest!
