Oh my gosh, betrayed by the one person who should have had your back. I guess in some strange way she thought she was helping. At any rate, she should have trusted your judgement.
Best of luck in the contest,
Rhonda

Of course, Mom thought she was being helpful. She didn't anticipate my reaction. I was so angry with him, I was going out and start dating whoever I could find. As it happen, a guy came to visit with friends about that time and he did want to date me. Mom had second thought pretty quick.
I appreciat the review.

My mother used to open my mail, too, then come up with things she could only know if she had read them. lol, I was never that curious about my own kids.

LOL, The might be true. Thanks for the review. It is better they stay out of it. It always leads to trouble.

I never really wanted to interfere with my girl's love life, if that was God's plan for their life, but they were trustworthy, and that swung it for me, same as when they chose to serve God, now it's different, one can't just stop wanting to protect their children, beautifully written, blessings Beth,

It is best not to get involved. If Mom had told he what she did so I could ask him to come back, I would have lost him. He thought I knew and had ask her to end it. Thanks for the review.

Mother of this road truly need to take a note about reading their children's letters. Especially if the children are older and are beginning to have a romantic relationship. I never in my life picked up any of the children's letters or notes in and read them. And I think it's probably for the best.

You are right. Trying to get involved is wrong and causes lasting problems.

I must give you a great rating for this poem. Very well-written. I remember the days when the children, at home, started dating. You wanted to know what they were up to lots of the time. And then they turned 18 or 21 years of age.

Thank you so much Rosemary. I really appreciate the six stars. If mom hadn't told me what she had done, I would have lost the best guy I could have ever found. I didn't do it to my kids because I knew I needed to let them make their own decisions.

Perhaps mom did stride a step too far, but I thought of doing the same thing with my daughter's paramour. They wedded, and now three years in, I am still uncertain if he was a loss or a win. I chose to let her learn through experience. It seems to be working ... okay.

It is better to leave it be. I had a freind that did that too her daughter and they didn't invite her to the wedding and Their husbands told her she wasn't welcome in their homes. My mom almost broke up the best thing that ever happened to me.

They will do it. My wife watched all my girls like a hawk. sometimes interfering as well. I heard one tell the other,"Mom makes my life pure hell." They later married. LOL. Good one, Beth.

Thank you, It isn't a good idea. If Mom hadn't admitted what she had done. I would have lost Evan and she would have screwed up my life. He wouldn't have come back if I hadn't asked him too. He thought I knew about it and had asked her to do it.

Thank you for sharing this contest entry with us. As a mom of four boys there were times I wanted to step in and put a stop to their budding relationships, but I never did. It took a lot of will power with one of my sons who continually made poor choices. He did grow up. LOL Good luck with the contest.

Thank you Barbara. It does take a bit of self control to not get involved but I always remember what my mom did to me and stayed away for that. I had a friend who got too involved and she wasn't invited to the wedding and her son-in-hated her for it the things she has said about him to her daughter.

I wonder if this is taken from experience? It's never right is it, no matter how much we should want to intervene? Only, in my experience when the relationship is on the blink and there's a slight opening. A fun and well rhymed verse here, getting the message of betrayal over loud and clear. Good luck, Beth! Debbie

Thank you Debbie. It was defintely based on true experience. Mom read my mail and decided I was in over my head and she needed to be involved. She amost caused a breakup, but she would have never found a better son-in-law.
