I recommend lowing the boil to a low boil for a longer duration, giving yourself enough time to do all those 'fun' chores. (smiley face here)
However, my concept of Christmas fun involves the outdoors and a ball (any ball, any size or consistency). Come back indoors when called to eat.
Bribery is often quite effective. Good luck.

Those fun chores makes the process that much more enjoyable.
Thanks for stopping by.

I find this to me an interest tradition that I didn't even know existed. I think you really enjoy the season and know how to make it special. I'm not likely to include this among my Christmas traditions but I did enjoy learning about it. I hope you have a wonderful Holiday ane will be back with us soon with my recipies for the New Year.

You should have your own cooking show, John. Just the right blend of humour and expertise. I once ate salt cod in Newfoundland. Never again! I think they omitted the instruction to submerge. Maybe I should try it your way.

Sounds interesting and different, and like something I would enjoy but I am not sure my family would accept. So I probably won't ever make it but I still enjoy reading all about it. Lovely food story.

Only my wife and I enjoy it, the kids turn their noses. Maybe I can get my grandkids involved to carry the tradition?
Thank you, Wendy!

If I hang with you on these delicious meals, I will weight 400 pounds. But I must say, the way you fix it sounds to good to push aside. My son brought over Red snapper he had caught off the boat he had chartered. I love the way he fixed it. Good one John.

I like fish and it sounds you do as well. Some local stores by me sell 6oz bags, cubed and frozen of bacala. I?ve bought this in the summer and made a small batch. Try it that way.
Thanks, Ben. I appreciate the review.

I don't have a drop of Italian in me, but I sure love the food. This is delightful, Chef John, and made me go straight to the refrigerator and eat olives straight from the jar. I did savor them. Positively, Delicious!
Sending you my best today as always and blessings for Christmas.

I would try this, John, except my supersmeller wife would not allow me to have this in the house. :(
I just saw a very fun movie on Netflix called "The Feast of the Seven Fishes" which is just what you describe. There's a funny part about the water not being changed enough for the baccala. I think you'd love this movie.

I?ll have to check that movie out.
Yeah, I?m thinking the supersmeller would immediately know when you pulled into the driveway with the bacala, not less keep it in the fridge for a few days.
Thanks, Jim.
Much appreciated.

Thank you for another mouth-watering recipe! I'm glad you kept the tradition alive and that's a great idea to involve a grandchild as they are more likely to be interested in a tradition ! But I'm guessing people raised on American diets may not be too keen about fish salads...
