Powerful and moving poem about a child growing up with fond memories of his Dad reciting his favorite poem and then ending up reciting that poem to his children as he becomes a Dad.

what a lovely remembrance of a well loved poem and person. You captured the love of both with your poem. I love your last two lines in the last stanza. A perfect end.

Awe I really enjoyed this poem. It had a great flow. You touch my heart when you said he climb up on his knee. Smiling memories as a child. Thank you so much for sharing a special piece of writing.

Well, I loved this poem too, "Anonymous". Beautiful melodic lilt, wonderful rhymes, and a perfectly delightful story. Good luck in the contest. I think this is a prize-winner for sure. MM

Sounds like poetry to me. I can see this unfolding into a touching story. So sad but yet so real of a father and son. I wish you the best in the Father's Day contest.

A touching and poignant piece that captures the joy and love shared between a child and his dad. A precious moment frozen in tune to be relived now with your own children and grandchildren. Thank you for sharing your story!

Very nice. Such a nice story of your father sharing with you his love and love of a story in what ever fashion it being read. The Cremation of Sam McGee was told in a soft firm voice over and over to me as a child by my father. Can't forget those moments. Good luck.

I love it. Glad I had a six left.
So much better than what you see on a traditional Fathers' Day card. Nice tribute to your father. Good work.
Good luck in the contest.

This is an excellent poem for the Father's day contest. Your writing created a very vivid vision of you as a young boy on your father's knee and also of that with a child of your own. Very well done. Terry.
