well, you are really somethin' else! I usually don't go to the trouble of pancakes in the morning, but you have convinced me, with that fabulous sounding pancake rendition to try it at night. thank you!
The rest of your banana things, I'll take a pass, but one thing I do love, is when a banana gets ripe, I put it in the fridge, and eat it cold! divine. (but then, I like cold soups, lots of things cold.)
Thanks for the pancake idea.

Lol. At first, I thought - surely they don't have a National Banana Day! But it was a very informative write. I actually mix mashed bananas and cinnamon in with the pancake batter, which works well. You've given me a couple of new ideas. A fine write. Thank you.

You crack me up also. I enjoy reading your periodic food recipes that always has something different to try. Since I don't own the National Day Calendar, I appreciate your bringing non-typical holidays to FanStory. As always, this was interesting and well written.

Another post that makes me hungry. I love breakfast for dinner, my husband not so much, so I don't get to have it that often. And I love bananas in smoothies with strawberries, orange juice, and frozen vanilla yogurt, yum. And of course, banana nut bread, especially when someone else makes it, like Starbucks.

Very informative!
Fun fact: Fred Rogers of Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood fame was from Latrobe!
I have to know though: Is there a clip of one of our fellow members on Good Morning America? I'd like to see it!
Appreciate your research as always!

You've got to love the National Day Calendar. I had my banana already today, but it looks like you have additional ways to enjoy this yummy treat. It will be fun to try them.
Thank you for the enjoyable and informative essay.

Hi John, what a fun story. Bananas are great. When I was working and on the road, the banana replaced my fast-food lunch. Instead of a Jr. Cheeseburger and a diet soda, I switched to a banana and a bottle of water. If I didn't bring it with me, it/they could easily be purchased at a WaWa or a 7~11. I also like to use them when I make pancakes. I haven't made it in a while, but I would mash a banana and add quick oats and an egg or egg white to make my pancakes--that's one version. The consistency is sort of crumbly, but it works for me. My hubby only like "real" batter pancakes. I try to be healthier, albeit a struggle. Lol.
Of special note:
Personally, I enjoy blending my ripened banana with orange Gatorade.
(I'll have to give that a try. You also have me thinking ... perhaps a banana with diet black cherry soda. In the summer, I like to use an empty water bottle and fill it 3/4 with water and the diet black cheery soda and then put it into the freezer until it gets to the point where it's almost frozen, but if you squeeze it, it's like a slushy. Again, this is something that I only enjoy. Hubby is not interest in anything low-fat, non-fat, diet, low-sugar, no sugar, etc. I think that you get the picture. He's a classic. Lol.
Thanks for sharing. I'll have to check out that calendar. I didn't know that it existed, and often wondered where/how people know about these National days. Enjoy your day. It's beautiful. Margaret

I need to try adding the egg to my batter. I love your reviews, I get to learn a lot about you.
I don?t have the calendar. I hear it on the CBS weather broadcast at 5 am. I do Google it occasionally, it?s a good way to post story/essay with regards to food (which I love).
Thanks again, Margaret. Always appreciated,
John

Your essay on bananas was fun and informative. I like that you give us a little history, some nutritional information, and some recipe ideas. I always learn something new. But I think I will pass on eating the skins.

You did a great job, John, with your appealing post
on bananas. I enjoyed learning more about the history
of the fruit. I did not know about its special day. Your recipe
sounded delicious. I would never eat the peel no matter
how it was fixed. That's unappealing. However, to those
who would enjoy.
