This tapestry of words is so comforting, so life-enhancing I'd like to cover up with it and bask in the warmth of love. I cannot help but think "but for."
But for the wonderful heart and soul of Mrs. Curry, what might have become of you? She was a shoulder to cry on, a friend to laugh with, a confidante who listened, a mentor who taught, a facilitator to smooth the pebbly paths between you and your dad, and a guardian angel.
I am certain as I am that there are stars in the sky, that Mrs. Curry "heard" your "thank-you" in a million different ways.
She had the joy of nurturing your blossoming heart and watching as you bloomed fully and brightly.
I've no doubt your presence in her life was as much a gift to her!
I wish all the "Mrs. Currys" of the world had a spotlight on them...but I suspect they do not want fanfare or recognition. They want to do the right thing...
What a triumphant letter "In Retrospect."
You say "She blessed my life." She surely did! By living your best life, you've blessed her legacy!
I'm feeling all my feelings now!
The lyrics to "Amazing Grace" are playing in my mind.
"I once was lost but now I'm found."
How great is God that he put you in one another's lives?
You found each other!
Congratulations on a heartfelt, meaningful write that leaves me beaming!

Such a kind poem about the people in your life, especially Mrs. Curry. I wondered about your mom, but she must have passed away, unless I missed something about her presence in your life. Like your letter.

My mom passed away on 10-26-56 - a couple of weeks before my 13th birthday.

A beautiful "thank you" letter to your teacher who helped you through the most difficult years of your life. She truly was a wonderful and generous teacher.
The one thing I critique you about is one line only. You think you took advantage of her; I disagree. Having once had a teacher help me in a difficult situation. I think you gave Mrs. Curry a purpose and the enjoyment of helping a student and having and finding a real friend.
Best wishes and good luck in the contest.

I gave you six stars because I almost teared up reading this. It's touching. It's personal. It's full of love and compassion. It's full of gratitude. I'm glad you had this person in your life when you needed her. The font is a bit harder to read, but I think maybe cursive was meant to simulate a real letter? It was readable anyway, and I'm glad I read it.

This is a lovely post and it gave me chills by the time I finished it. Mrs. Curry sounds like a wonderful person. You are fortunate to have had her. I wonder if your brother ever found someone with whom to share his grief. I hope so. We all need someone to make us fell important and special.

My brother found solace -- most of it via Ms. Curry as well. He began to join us in the mornings and eventually some evening card games. He and I also became very close. His path was more difficult than mine. Those first months were rough, all turned out well and I have wonderful memories.
-
That's wonderful. I'm glad for both of you.

Within your letter to Ms. Curry, is a beautiful story of not just a good neighbor, but a written portrait of affection, of caring and nurturing, of understanding and trust and so much more. This is beautifully written and a unique way to write a biographical essay. Good luck in the contest.

-Thanks for sharing the picture, notes, and story.
-I read this previously and wanted to come back to it to review.
-It is beautifully written directly from your heart.
-I think both you and Mrs. Curry were very lucky people
because you had each other. Not only was she important
to you, but I'm sure you made a difference in her life, too.
-You tell the the story as if it were a few days ago and the
memories are fresh.
-What makes this extra special is the effort you made in making it look like a hand written letter. I wonder if Mrs. Curry is still around if you plan to send this to her.
-I was an English teacher, and this is beautifully written,
and very deserving of a win in the contest. Good luck!!!

Ms. Curry crossed over several years ago. I must believe she sees through a glass clearly now and knows how much I loved her and still do. She was kind and generous and fun. Thanks so much for the exceptional #6 star. I appreciate
-
I had a feeling she had passed on since you used the glass image in the story. Thanks for sharing about her, and I think she is smiling down saying, "You did a great job!"
You are very welcome and deserving of the stars and review.
