Nikki well deserving a six. Deeply moving and a subtle reminder of the deeps of darkness we can fall into. But knowing out of the shadows of darkness a new day does come.

Thanks for the review and your kind words.

This poem, Shadow's Run, pulls the reader in with every stanza as we realize we are evaluating our purpose and contributions to that race we see run from both inside and out.

Thank you for the review and your thoughtful comments.

I can't remember the last time a read a poem that flowed so naturally. You make it look easy and yet we know it is not. It was pure joy, and pure heart from beginning to end. It is also a very strong contender. Best of luck.

Your review was the best way to start my day. Thank you so much for the 6th star and your thoughtful comments.

This is a very thoughtful and reflective poem! The simple rhymes and short lines belies the deeper meaning. The narrator begins recounting a time of discontent and perhaps depression. But when she "shuts off the news" (perhaps one of the sources of depression) she connects with her shadow self and embraces it as well as speaks affirmation. In the process, she realizes that it's in the giving to others ("to give is to get") that she can fully accept herself and be content both in the night and the day.
Hope this does well in the contest!

Thank you for writing this rhyming,
rather melodic poem. There appear
to be both stressors and wonderful
positive coping skill development in your poem. If this is true facts of your own life I congratulate you on
your many strenghts.

To be that one, everybody's hero. The whole world needs saving, the hero is needed. From where will he/she descend. What will be their strength? Will they be welcomed or feared? Will they be successful against the challenges they will face? Does anyone know?

Thanks for your insights. I was going more for helper than hero, but I can see how hero fits. . I appreciate your review.

Wow. Six stars from me. I find it beyond me that you managed (or I suppose were forced to rhyme?) but it's very much a story in poetry form, very easy to follow and flows just so well.
I don't know. It just feels like something I could never do.
Good luck with the poetry contest, you have my blessings, and thank you for such a great read.

This is a very straightforward poem that brings a sense of awe to the proverbial table. From the beginning you captivate our imagination with an awareness that the mystical is at play. Your flow is good and you give us a natural progression of navigating a troubling episode of unknown cause. You enabled us to see substantial personal growth. Thanks for sharing.

Wow. This was a powerful poem. I love how, to me, you were running from someone who sat in silence and watched the weak get trampled, the sad ignored. So many injustices and so many in need. It was as if your conscience, not your shadow was trying to convince you to follow what you knew you had to do. To stand among the hurting. To make a difference. I loved the concise way you wrote. Beautifully written. Gretchen
