i'm so glad to hear you're making progress. Being able to take that short walk is a good thing. It's terrible to think all those people are on strike. They are so necessary. Things are bad enough when you're ailing, but not having access to the tests and treatments you need makes things even worse. I like the "cute little frog" nickname. I hope you continue your progress, and we'll be waiting for that next chapter. judi

Aw thank you, Judi, it seems to have been months since this began, and in a way it was. If I'd listened to what my body was telling me, this might have been avoided. The tiredness and the cough would have warned most sensible people. But with the health service in such a state at the moment I just continued on as if it was a normal winter thing. We are overwhelmed with the strikes in this country now, and the government isn't having talks with any of the union leaders. He's useless. Now teachers have joined in and are striking. I think the country will ground to a halt soon, and God forbid if anyone needs any of the emergency services.
Thank you, my dear friend, for all your caring thoughts and messages. You've been so kind. Now I have to check to see if you have written any more Bertha scripts!! Love you lots, Sandra xx

You're very welcome. What a shame the country's been going through all those crises. That's what happens when the government has its hand in everything. I'm working on a new script but promise I'll get back to Bertha and Millie. judi

That's good!! I really enjoy those two self-made detectives. They are inspirational the way they aren't letting old age get in their way. 😊 xxx

Thank you, Ric. I've hated not being able to write my chapters, it's been a nightmare time. I took a moment to read the last three chapters to get back into it and found a glaring error. I had placed my two 'baddies' in two different places almost at the same time. It wouldn't have been too bad had it not been for the fact they were hundreds of miles apart! Back in the 1700s there was no quick transport to get them anywhere fast. I've now given my two baddies, two more brothers!! Lol. It works though, thank goodness.
Thanks for all your encouragement over the past few weeks, my friend, I've really appreciated it. Love you lots, my friend. Sandra xxx

It's great to hear that you're definitely on the mend, Sandra. You were so poorly, I'm sure Graham and the boys were worried sick, as were your many friends here on Fan Story. The NHS is is under immense pressure at the moment, so it's good to know it's still managing to look after people and return them to good health.

Onwards and upwards, my friend - I can't wait to read your next chapter!

YAAAAAAAY!!! Now this is some seriously wonderful news!! Thanks for the update, Sandra. I didn't feel right querying you on our FB private messages. I decided I'd be a thoughtful, PATIENT friend, instead, and hope to hear some good news. And voila! That's exactly what this post has wrought.

Sooo, so glad you're on the mend.
Love you madly!

Dear Melissa, thank you so much! So many people have been praying for me, it made me quite emotional. It takes something like this to realise how wonderful and kind people are. You've all been amazing. Thank you, a million times. Love and hugs. Sandra xxx

So glad to hear you are well on the road to recovery. It sounds like you've been through a very tough time. The brain fog is the worst when you are ill. It's almost as if your brain is as listless as your body. But it's basically your body telling you to stop. As a former nurse, my heart goes out to the strikers. It's a heart-wrenching decision, but sometimes you are placed in situations that are dangerous to both yourself and your patients. I never did, but I can sympathize for those who do when it comes to better, safer staffing. I could fill books about my thirty years in nursing.

Hope this finds you feeling even better! Looking forward to reading more of your novel.

I have to agree with you, Sol, the nurses and doctors don't want to strike, and it's only happening because the government didn't think they ever would. I was so well cared for in hospital, and they all work so hard and long hours too. I told them I'd join them on the picket line if it's still ongoing when I'm fit again. They haven't had a rise in years. Our government have no idea what it's like in the real world, most of the cabinet being multi-millionaires. I know they won't get re-elected next year!
Thank you for your kind thoughts, my friend. I'm working on the chapter for a couple of hours each day, so hope to post on Sunday. Love and hugs, Sandra :)) xxx

Yes, administrative responses are to ruthlessly cut costs for the sake of profit, at least on this side of the pond. Of course, nursing is the biggest slice of the pie as the only reason to hospitalize someone is for nursing care. Most everything else can be done outpatient. Yet, that?s where they look to cut first despite study after study proving that patient morbidity and mortality goes up in direct proportion to less staff. An inverse relationship. I?m so glad you got good care. When you?re sick that?s all that matters. Happy writing!
