What a great way to share it, Carol! You can now see the fruit of your labors in those years past - that you told them about prayer and now they believe or want to believe. I'll join you in praying for Cheryl.

Since I am searching hard to find my new beginnings, I hope I did the right thing. In respect for their father and our Lord, I shall pray and be bless my friends do as well for Cheryl and the family are in need. Her children need their mother.
Thanks again, Carol

You may be a much kinder person than I, Carol. I feel badly for your step-daughter's severe battle with Covid, but I don't know if I had been treated so badly by Mike's family when he was sick and dying, I could be so forgiving. For you I will offer a prayer that Cheryl survives and thrives again, and if she does, she learns to appreciate it. Hugs.

You are reacting as any true Christian would. Forgive them. It is not for us to judge. They were (of course) remiss in their treatment of you and their dad... We're all sinners. Amazing how some get "faith" when death or severe illness comes calling. I've seen avowed atheists praying out to God as I attended them as their RN in their final hours. God accepts all souls. Of course I will pray. Of course I never had a doubt you would!

Yes, it's part of my new beginning. I did what a good christian should do and extended the olive branch. I feel immensely sad that they now are feeling the same emotions their father did and children will be so affected by it. I hope our prayers are heard and they will get a second change.
Smiles, Carol

Of course I will join with you in your prayers for Cheryl and her daughters. After all no one is more undeserving than me, an He still pursued me like the proverbial Hound of Heaven. Thanks for opening up the secret places in your life to us and best of all, to the merciful one. Beautifully written Carol, blessings Roy

From the start, the daughters could have been there in the hospital with Mike. They should never have used that excuse. I'm sorry you have to deal with this, Carol. However, I know your strong faith will lead you to do what's right. In the end, you will have no regrets.
Respectfully, Jan

Thank you for sharing this. I am sorry that his daughters did not spend time with their father. I pray that you will keep forgiveness in your heart. It is amazing who people turn to when they face troubles in their own lives. Miracles can happen through prayer.

You are a good person Carol, and you have a forgiving heart. As Christians how could we refuse to care when someone asks. What they did to us in the past may still hurt, but it is our place to forgive. If we don't, it doesn't punish them so much as it hurts us. I will pray for Cheryl and her family. I know her children need her.

A wonderfully sad and hopeful story. I loved the sentence: "I know praying no longer makes me their "carpet"; instead, I offer a blanket of hope." Very well-written. It takes a lot, given the past history, to work toward reconciliation and forgiveness. Well done, as always.

Thank you... I was surprised by the fact they reached out to me, but I did extend an olive branch and my prayers. We shall see how they respond. Thank you so much for your kind thoughts and the review.

Good writing should motivate a reader to action. You motivated me to pray. Good writing. I do feel your piece could have used a little tighter "story" format. That, though, is minor.

I like the way you have given us some explanation for the name under which you write. Doubtless this is not the whole story, but it is a good reason. I also got a lot out of the 'crying wolf' aspect of your story. My mother has not enjoyed aging, and seeks more support, sympathy, whatever than it is possible to give, by playing up her problems. It makes things very hard.

Thank you so much for your understanding and the kind review. I have extended an olive branch and pray they accept. The young children will need all the support they can get.
