I love your sensitivity for children's views. By screaming and punishing and ignoring, all that teaches is impatience and disrespect. Children have a need to be validated too. Well expressed thanks for sharing

Hi Trisha, Thank you and sometimes ai wonder how children feel when they are not given a chance to speak as their parents won,t listen to them too bisy yelling or telling them what they must do One for the kids this is Cheers Christine

Christine--Your poem is so true! It brought me down memory lane, when all we kids ever wanted was to be seen, AND heard. We didn't necessarily make a ruckus--just acknowledgement that we took up space on our planet. Well done!

Hi Susan, Thank you and glad you had a memory lane episode and yes I suppose we all wanted to be seen and heard and I sometimes think our lives were much quieter and more involved than many today. Cheers Christine

Your well rhymed and well written verse makes a stand for children who often don't get heard. Not too many parents include their children in their decisions, which seems totally unfair, doesn't it?

Hi Sharon, Thank you very much and yes it is unfair for many children. We sometimes forget they have a voice and just want some say in their lives, our busy lives sometimes gets in the way of fairness. This is for all children and a reminder to adults Cheers Christine

A lot of truth in this persona poem from the eyes of a child. I see in my grandkids the desire to be part of the greater conversation, even if it's above their current comprehension. Being IN is always better than out.

This is a very nicely composed poem and I love the message and the image. Kids need to express themselves and be listened to. I think the biggest thing is to let them know they are important and that they count as humans. A giggle or two sweetens the pot. Marilyn

This is so touching. The point of view of a child is very well expressed. Many a times we take our children for granted. This is an eye opener. I appreciate your understanding and your art to express it too.

Great message, Christine. Wish I made more time to listen which I recognize now that I have time. But when you're working full-time and raising kids - you need to just have them listen so that the day can be done. That's why we have grandkids. :))

This is a heart rendering write because children don't have much of a voice and are rarely listened to by some parents, which is very sad. But your brought their voice here in your lovely poem Christine, love Dolly x

Christine,
I think you are right, but, unfortunately, I'm afraid that too many in this new world let the kids do all the talking and decision-making. *smile* I don't know about the UK, but we are overrun with entitled and spoiled kids.
I know that's not who you are talking to. And I agree we need to be more patient and kind. Totally. But there has to be a careful balance - so that they also learn respect for authority.

Hi Robyn, Thank you and yes I agree balance is the key and perhaps some parents go overboard with flexibility where others just say do what I say without thinking sometimes they are unfair. Yes respect is disappearing in many cases, but I have been lucky with my kids. Australia I think is much the same as elswhere. Cheers Christine

A very well-written poem. Sometimes parents are too busy with their own things and they forget their children also need some attention from time to time. Always make time to listen to your children.

Hi Sandra, Thank you and I think sometimes we learn as we get older and tend to be more patient with kids and they can teach us much Cheers Christine
