So sweet, the importance of spending that special time with our children and grandchildren. Priceless. Good story, so worth it to share. Thank you and blessings, Ella

When I saw the writing prompt for ?I remember? I was immediately transported back, in my mind, to this somewhat incoherent and yet extremely precious interchange with my grandson. Thank you so much for reading and reviewing with such extreme kindness and the five beautiful stars that you have given Gramps and Jadon. May God bless you! Dr. Nad

Most children have the best of relationship with their grandparents. Your short story has revealed how they too need space for themselves and the usual fun and company can at times be not to their full liking. It is for loving grandparents to be aware that children cannot be always be taken for granted and they too like silence once in a way. Best of luck to you in the contest.

PS You have no desire to hear my excuse, and I have no desire to share it, but suffice it to say I am very late with my words of appreciation, but, they are no less heartfelt. May God bless you! Dr. Nad

Don't lay down your quill just yet. You are a fine writer and I read you often. I like this little slice of life it shows that kids aren't stupid. When my grandson was four he and his parents were staying with us on holiday. The little chap didn't say a great deal, but the day they were leaving to go home he threw his arms around my knees and very solemnly pronounced, "I'll miss you Nanna." No more just that. We adults didn't even think he knew they were leaving. Proves adults don't know everything. Sincerely Anne (Mabaker)

I like the viewpoint of the story from your grandson, he has a clear voice and the reader sees the interaction between the two of you. Grandchildren give us so many happy moments like the one you describe here.

What a delightfully clever grandson you have there, Dr. Nad. I dont' know which struck me more powerfully: the wit and wisdom of your grandson's last line, or the fact that you are old enough to have a grandson. Of course your Profile pic doesn't have to be current. No complaints there. Mine was taken when I was thirty years old and I'm now 76.
Good luck on the contest. If it wins you owe Jadon an ice cream cone for providing,"Gramps, sometimes I just like silence!"

Cute story and well written. I guess all of us "Gramps" can remember certain episodes with our grandsons. Those stories pile up like beloved photographs.

His Gramps had written the number 10 cut: "Get it Together."
Does that mean you wrote it or his other Grandpa?
Cute story and sounds like something a child would say.
Best phrase: ...he had finally come to his four-year-old breaking point.

This story is a classic which holds up a child's unvarnished honesty. Sometimes they just want silence. Kids are great and so is this story.
