Fun read, I could see the scenes, the Y facilities with the machines, the sweating of a man quite out of shape and wanting to impress. I could see the hard faced PT and loved the story. Nice writing

This story is a very good response to the prompt. They really are opposites. My daughter is a personal trainer. Her husband was overweight and out of shape. Now he says that he is a good example of her expertise. He is slim and in shape. He also eats healthy stuff. Personal trainers take their job seriously.

Thank you so much, Judy, for not only sharing and reviewing my story, but for also validating its key points. Your daughter and husband should be very proud of themselves. Rod

You had great use of dialogue and your descriptions left little to the imagination. The picture you chose to illustrate your story was also perfect. Good job.

No one will argue - opposites attract. But many will also say this is true only in physics. In human relations it is "birds of the same feather flock together." But in a deeper, even philosophical level human opposites do attract.
Between two people, regardless of gender, the attraction between opposites is a desire to complement if not to complete whatever is missing in the other. For example, between an intellectual and an unschooled person, the intellectual can educate the unschooled one in the finer things of the mind while the other can teach him the practical side of life.

Good job with this story! Very believable and a great response to this prompt. You have my vote. It's amazing how some people can be so dour. I like how your character chiseled away at the PT's hard exterior. Well done.

A very cute story. I'm not usually one for romance stories but you kept my interest quite well with this one. I found myself rooting for Rick. I was captivated by his plight and hoped he would be able to connect with Danielle. Your tension was great, and built at a steady pace. Your characters were engaging, even when Danielle was being stoic and buisnesslike, I was hoping there was some spark she was hiding for Rick.
Well done.

It's all in the technique. For some you have to pay attention to; for ignore completely. The ones I liked best was those who ignored me. It was fun, getting their ahem, Attention. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words.

Yes, opposites attract, but there is still some common ground that pulls them together. In this case it seems to be movies.
This is a well written story of how two people meet and begin dating. I like the way the gal was honest about her observation of his condition. Honesty is always a good way to start a relationship.
I see no corrections. Blessings in the contest. LaVonne

Is this true or fictional? It was well done and I wish it were true. I enjoyed the opposites and the building romance. It is probably too good to be true, which is the case most of the time. Great job, no spag.

Hi Maggie. Indeed it is too good to be true. I do work out daily at the Y, but Rick is half my age, and I still have the flab! Thank you so much for sharing the story and all the kudos.
Comment from Dean Kuch
Well, Rick and Danielle were opposites, that was clearly evident. He loved baseball, she enjoyed aerobics. His breakfast consisted of fatty, fried unhealthy foods, while Danielle had a salad. And although he did trim off several pounds of flab, he was still inclined to indulge in the "finer" things life has to offer; beer, baseball, writing... But Danielle was all business, for the most part.
They did discover they went to the same University, and their love of film is what eventually sealed the deal and brought the both of them together.
Gotta love those old Bogie flicks!
Well done, and best of luck in the contest.
