A beautifully reflective poem. You've got the right balance between making the reader think beyond the emotive reaction to logic. I also love how you wove the obvious with something deeper in the last stanza.

Wonderful poem, Roy! I think your poem is perfect for our divisive times where our country is in the middle of an election and there is so much mudslinging! I especially liked your conclusion:
"So think with grace about both sides,
one, where grace and kindness rides,
and two where thought and logic bides."

This is sound advice, Roy, especially since we have a big election here in 5 days. There have been so many rumors, lies, and innuendos with this election in particular. I pray that people will think before they vote. Blessings. Carol

When I was a Program Coordinator for adults with challenges, our agency had a sheltered workshop for those individuals who worked with supervision indoors. One of the supervisors there was someone I had suspected for a long time couldn't stand me. She had a daughter working there. She left her job but before she left she went over to me and asked me to take her daughter on my casefile. She told me, "You're the only one I know I can trust." I learned not to go by feelings after that.
