As always, you bless us with a story in poem form from the Bible and, of course, do an excellent job of telling it. Your notes help me to understand a little better about a story I had forgotten. Thank you for sharing.

I have always found the story of King David and the Book of Kings fascinating, if somewhat hard to understand at times. Thanks for this slice of David's story and for reminding us of Jonathan and his role.

You write with faith. Consistent and often. I have one hunfred and twenty four more reviews to write. Pray that my fingers don't give out before I am done. Love to you and yours. :-)

I should have known. Only one poet writes spiritual poems of this quality and like Holden and Bradman, he hails from Adelaide. And like Bradman and Holden, you are Australia's best.

That's true. Jonathon knew that David was the rightful king and did not stand in the way. Just like John the Baptist didn't allow people to put him on a pedestal and rightfully directed people to Christ. These kinds of men are rare and like you said, Christlike in their behavior.
David was true to his word in caring for Mephibosheth. Thanks for this great historical poem, Roy!

A lot of effort and research went into this excellent poem. My wife vicki and I watched a special Documentary on Gaza last night. One of the more tragic stories in the bible. Saul fell on his own sword and David's friend cut down. The innocents being caught in the middle today. Nice poem Roy.

I liked reading this poem. It is interesting you shortened Jonathan's name and David's name to sound more modern for two stanzas. It is always educational to see more symbolism in the Old Testament that foreshadows Jesus Christ's mission. It sounds like Saul and Jonathan had a hard end in this mortal world, but thank goodness for the Law of Resurrection and the Law of the Harvest. I am trying to remember if they fasted for seven days due to Jewish law, or if it was slightly shorter due to more battles coming up. The only suggestion I had was to capitalize Saviour/Savior in the first stanza.

I think what l like about your poetry the most, besides how wonderfully it rhymes, is the extensive notes you include that explain the story. I appreciate it so much, it puts everything in context.
