Hmm this is good, but I think one of the biggest issues is the beginning. The reader is thrust into the middle of an argument, which we do not understand, don't know who is talking, and have no investment in the speakers. In short, it begins with confusion, and for too long.

Just preached your Sunday Sermon my favorite Hat man.
Mankind doesn't deserve God's love or mercy. That is why Jesus had to come, we can never be "good enough" to get to heaven. God is not mocked. He promised not to destroy us with a flood again, but when the cup is full He will pour out his wrath. Time is short to freely share our Savior with others, and I am grateful for this site. Esther

Very creative and thought provoking piece you have written.
Prayers have and always will be a part of every aspect in our human lives... in one way or another prayers will affect every man and every woman.
Thanks for sharing your story with us.

Prayer is the only certain thing in life. He will hear us. Your words actually hit home. How often do they mention God? He isn't mentioned at all. I can honestly believe that perhaps He is doing this, He is so cross that we aren't thinking of Him anymore. We are destroying this beautiful planet He placed in our care. I can understand it if this is His way of bringing us back into the fold. Well done!! :) Sandra xx

I sure do like it when you write prose. And this is one of those cases where I wish it had been posted earlier in the week so that I could have rewarded it properly. Thanks for sharing.

This is a nice story. If nothing else works pray. I would imagine a lot of people are praying when a hurricane is coming their way. Was that actually a Carl Sandburg poem? No wonder he never made sense to me. No one should name a hurricane Jezebel. It could live up to its name.

The poem was real. And i don't think i'd like a storm named Jezebel as well. There are certain names we naturally avoid, such as Storm Judas.

It started in the Garden of Eden and people wanting more than all the blessings they were already given....and now society has stretched so far that I wonder if many even see what's happening. I know that without the power of prayer, I wouldn't be here. I don't understand why most of my family is gone, but its not mine to question. Instead I know He walks with me and guides me and I speak to Him with my prayers. We all need to get down on our knees before it's too late.

When I first got saved, I was heading a local club where there was a lot of drinking. I gave it to God and asked Jesus to be my Savior. A friend of mine said, "You don't act the same, you don't talk the same. What happened?" I told him about Jesus. Then he told me he was going to Sunday School. His teacher told him to pry for the person he thought needed help most in the world and see what happens. He told me he was praying for me.

Your story was riveting, Jim. I don't think I breathed through the whole thing, so good job with that. Also, it reminded me of Hurricane Milton that hit Florida. It was the strongest Category 5 ever recorded. People, some we know well, were about to be blind-sided. Then people began to pray, myself included, that the God even the winds and the waves had to obey, would stop this juggernaut. And then, it dropped to a 4, then a 3 before it made landfall. Only God, and according to the prayers going out, could have done that.
Great subject, well written,
Hugs,
Rhonda

Thank you! As a resident of Florida, I lived through the whole thing. Our area just got a tiny bit of wind and rain. God is good!

I didn't realize you were there as well. I knew about Sally. I'm glad my prayers covered you as well. I had a feeling your post was about that hurricane, but didn't know how close it came to you as well.

Thank you so much for your caring heart.

Likewise, my friend!!

I hope The Lord blessed your weekend.

He did, thank you. I hope the same for you!!

Yes, God has been good to both of us!

If only we could all unite together - one man, one woman - and the strength of that union could be enough to resist the forces of our seas and weather events! Sadly, our greed and selfishness have altered the make-up of our universe which is now fighting back. I don't think it likes mankind one bit. Your story, as ever, is beautifully written and inspired by your strong faith that there is a purpose here. Thanks for sharing, Jim. Take care Debbie

I'm thankful my wife and I learned about each other first in writing, then kept journals of what we expected in marriage, and knew we were on the same page, puttingThe Lord first in our lives.
