Normally, I am not a fan of poetry. This was so well done and moving that I felt it deserved my response. Your consideration for phrasing and word choice are wonderful. A moving piece. Well done!

There's two types of love, among the myriad of forms it takes, we only have one word, but the old Greek language has eight names. But the only true love is agape love, which is an all consuming unconditional, sacrificial love, which doesn't depend on emotion, it is gracious, which doesn't depend on any kind of yoke, unless the recipient tries on its very light yoke, to come under its protective, nurturing hand, beautifully written blessings Roy

It's funny because the only reason I know of agape and eros is from an anime I've watched! I'm so glad you enjoyed the poem, and thank you so much for the review! Have an amazing rest of your week,
Best,

I will try again to write you a review. The last time I was accused of using AI generated words. I hate AI and will always avoid is it. Now, I do like your poem and imagery within. All best in the contest. Ulla :)))

a powerful and moving poem in a traditional sonnet format about betrayal, by a cheating spouse and emotional and physical abuse love the photo image as it captures the poem's dark mood

This really dives deep into the human experience with some VERY powerful imagery. The way you compare human suffering to that of a beaten dog and the struggle to forgive is both intense and thought-provoking. The metaphors like the dirty coin and the roses to capture the complexity of our emotions and the pain we sometimes cause ourselves. And now I'm singing the song! Lol

Video,
Great poem expressed in sardonic, realistic tones. Sometimes I'm a cynic, so I get your poem.
Exceptional.
Good luck with this and all your writing,
Cindy

Thank you so much for the 6-stars and for the kind review! I am also quite a cynic, so a lot of my poems end up in that tone haha!
Best,

Even though the extreme pain is so fresh, we tend to return to the one viciously bit us. What a wonderfully written poem. Good luck in the contest! Have a great day, and God bless.

Thank you for sharing this contest entry with us. Yes, once we've been hurt, we are very cautious about entering into a relationship again. I enjoyed reading and good luck with the contest.

Pity the fool who learns to enjoy the pain, who allows it to shower them like a purifying rain. Celebrate the one who allows the pain to make them stronger, strong enough to break free, turning the tables, punishing the punisher. I know which one I would be.
