This is an excellent rant.
I'm in a Commonwealth that takes really good care of its seniors: lots of affordable housing, an excellent Governor who always looks out for people. But still there are taxes.
I believe NY and CA tax food and clothing, which is a travesty.
Your essay is well-worded, and you make an excellent argument for us seniors. I'm 66 and fit into this category.

*my cousin retired from the military too. He spent some time in Korea. He liked it, but moved back to the states with his Korean wife and children.
