This is a delightful reminder that Kids DO say the darndest things. When I was a kid, my mom made bread and jelly sandwiches as an after school snack to tide us over until dinner. Therefore, bread and mayo is an actual sandwich, especially if "You don't got meat." Best wishes in the contest.

I might just borrow that quote. It would fit right into grocery situation at home. The artwork your chose is precious amd nostalgic. A very good entry for the 50 word writing prompt. Good luck.

I remember my father telling stories how his grandparents were so poor that at times that's exactly what they ate..bread and mayo. BEtter than starving I guess. Cute story and told well.

I have little doubt your story is true for where else but Down Under would
