Yes, sir, "if I've heard it once, I've heard it a thousand time," kids do the craziest things. And from one generation to the next, the same things are repeated, and they are just as true as they've always been. LOL. A month on out and traveling, and another week or so before I can get back home and catch up on all my reading and reviewing. Thanks for sharing.

I'm just a wee bit too young for this. Of course I recognise the song, but that's about it. I was just a small kid back then, and a very small one at that. Thanks a lot for sharing this. Ulla:)))

The 50s - definitely a different time. It was in that time frame that I grew up. Speak Softly was key to surviving at home but at the "Sock Hops" it was "Jump and Shout". Well done Jim.
Blessings and happy 4th

!959 was the second year of going steady with my high school sweetheart.
An easy read with good flow and pace.
Great picture.
When I would drive her home, I learned to turn my 57 Ford headlights off and idle up the driveway. That way the double spotlights would not be turned on by her dad.
Thanks for sharing.

Some things are so good that shouting is a natural occurrence. The prophet said that preaching was something he could not control as the zeal for preaching was like fire in his bones.
In like manner, making love to someone you care deeply about is not something easy to shroud in whispers. You just have to let it out with an ear splitting shout! This brought back some delicious memories.

How on earth does a lad from Florida ever know of Australia's wild one Johnny O'Keefe from the late 50's and 60's.
Liked your poem, brought back memories of J O K and my youth. The fact I survived still amazes me.

This is a nice nostalgic look back on proper behavior--or at least the attempt at proper behavior. What seemed improper in those times has certainly gone by the wayside nowadays when anything goes, anywhere, any time. I enjoyed your poem very much--well done!

Jim, your write speaks the truth in so many ways...The low keyed and docile petting; the parents knowing who/where/when/what of progenies
was paramount...Thanks for sharing these blasts from the past and quasi-
sexual innuendos. Your post is an excellent respite from the somber and sober current offerings.

This old-fashioned sharing of love is well written. However, reading about your background in mental health, I wonder if this clandestine love affair was deemed inappropriate by society? Is that why they were being so secretive. Just the same, it certainly is not what is seen in today's society.

Oh my how times have changed... the gentle quiet approach to love has become a open display of whatever and whenever. I think I enjoyed the soft and easy approach. Very well written. Enjoyed!
