There is always the woman who cooks very well in the kitchen and the woman who cooks elsewhere. Which you prefer is always a matter of choice. I will take into consideration the idea of saluting a woman or women who cook to perfection in places other than the kitchen. Thank you for your kind comments, about my poem.

I am glad I read your comments. While reading I did wonder about "Her figure and face, did not catch my eye,..." Until I read the comments, I thought you were being rather mean. Of course, one could argue (as you presumably did) that her food was so good that you were completely focused on it. As a rhyming poem, well done.

Men who are only attracted by a woman's appearance will find themselves paying for dinners cooked by someone else many times over. I was trying to say, that the man in the poem was not overly concerned by looks as much as he was with her cooking skills.

I confess that although I have many many wonderful attributes ( if I say so myself) I cannot drive and my cooking skills are minimal. Consequently my late husband became an excellent cook and so are his sons. Following the tradition I am proud to have started, all three of my grandkids cook and my 13 year old granddaughter bakes and decorates cakes.
If all men were like your protagonist, I would have been a spinster living courtesy of DoorDash. Lololol

While the man in this post loved the cooking of the woman, I am sure that she had other qualities that would prove to endear her to him.

I would never intentionally belittle the physical attributes of anyone especially a woman. I was trying to imply that if a woman who might not be a stunning beauty by today's standards was a marvelous cook, only a fool would prefer her looks to the way she cooks.

This is a fun read with great rhyming. I'm not a bad cook as in I know my limits but my mum is a great cook.. She has a knack of taking a recipe and giving it a Joanie twist and it never disappoints...My dad always her biggest fan!

Thank you Jill. In my family, my mom and my youngest sister held that spot. My oldest sister not so much. I think it was because she had so many kids she did not have the time to become as practiced. My mom taught me how to cook all her favorites and then it became my job to cook for her.

Thanks man. I surprised my wife with how well I myself can cook. So, guess who does the majority of cooking in the Miller household. My wife sits back with a satisfied smile on her face, totally relaxed, I also enjoy washing dishes.
