Imaginative narrative. I think the writer can better focus on showing a story than telling a narrative. It is first person, but we know very little about the person speaking. Does he have a name? Without showing the readers have no emotional connection to his plight or that of doomsday event. So, the 'story' doesn't have all the needed elements.
