Movies it's Pee Wee Herman. Television is Columbo. Yours?

I Love Columbo, but currently. It is Brokenwood from Acorn tv, and Blacklist from Netflix.
Movies- Up from Disney is my favorite, Movies- the miniseries Lonesome Dove. Hands down. the only flaw it had was, that the part of Clara was miscast

Gretchen,
Heartfelt chapter that is bonding these two a little closer.
I think this line should be spoken from Iris. I think it would read better and mean more ( just my opinion)...
"My child frozen in time at eight-years-old."
Good chapter.

Two people who sadly miss their sons. But, Jameson will get a chance to see his son, but it won't be easy with a mother like he has. I loved the detail of the little bit of chocolate milk on the corner of Daniel's mouth and the scab on his neck. It's those little points that gives the child an identity. The words, 'he lived his whole life in eight short years,' is so sad, yet it's nice to know he did live it to the full. A beautiful, well written, poignant chapter, Gretchen. :) Sandra xxx

Yes, this chapter most definitely had to end here. But it won't leave us readers' minds for some time to come. Thanks for sharing another fine chapter.

Thanks, Ric. It's hard to write something like that, at least for me it was. Didn't want it to be too depressing. Gretchen

Children are so, so precious, I guess we don't know just how much until, God forbid, we lose them, so many parents have had to bury their children, which should not be. Beautifully written Gretchen, blessings Roy
Typo : He want to be (a) daddy when he grows up.

Oh, thank you. I can't imagine losing any of my children. But I'm not in control. I can only trust that will be safe. Thank you for this wonderful review and the extraordinary rating. Gretchen

Don't apologize, I prefer short chapters because I'm a slow reader.
I really love your story. You should consider joining the women writers group. You decide how long is your chapter, flash non-fiction is good. Any length we are flexible.
Okay, the review. I thought about "harold and maude" a friendship story between a wierd and morbid young man and a free spirit 80 years old woman. They meet at a funeral of someone they didn't know. But theirs was a love story and friendship.
James and Iris friendship is a lovely story. She still misses her child, Daniel. I can't imagine loosing my boy. It makes sense that the pain would never fade.
Great story, very compelling and heartfelt. I recommend it.

I just might join that group. I have too many pans in the fire right now. But I was reading about it the other day. Sounds very cool. Thank you so much for this aweso.e review and rating. Gretchen

Thank you for sharing this bonding with us. Irish and Jameson have a beautiful relationship. I know they will help each other heal. They need each other. You're doing a wonderful job writing this.

Wow! What a beautiful chapter, Gretchen. As a parent the worst nightmare. As a reader, it was heart-wrenching and wonderfully written. I melted into that conversation as if I were there with them. Best, JohnC

So sad, and yet how lovely that they share this memory and it resonates with both of them. So enjoying their relationship. Just one thing, I think in French it is 'bon appetit', although I'm not an expert. (Unless of course she's just saying it badly as a joke?)

Thank you so much for this nice review. I didn't want it to get too depressing and I don't think Iris's character would want pity. Still hard to write because any child, even fictional ones are hard to let go of. Gretchen
Comment from Wendy G
This is a most moving chapter. Both are dealing with different forms of the grief of losing a son. The details that she sees in the photo (the scab and the chocollate milk) bring great realism to the story. Very vivid. Authenticity is a strong point for you.
Wendy
Typo: the French expression is "Bon appétit!"
