This is a powerfully moving piece. You did a great job presenting the facts. There is no room for improvement. I wonder if the picture is real or not.

Thank you for taking the time to read and review. I greatly appreciate your kindness.
The picture is old but it is real.

Wow, this sentence made me cry:"I know praying no longer makes me their "carpet"; instead, I offer a blanket of hope." Thank you for sharing and good luck with your writings, just imagine if a miracle happens.

It is a sad fact that people often attempt to justify their failures by blaming others instead of taking responsibilities. Instead of rejoicing to find their father rallying they allowed anger at having their live "interrupted" under seemingly false pretenses. These same individuals are now older and apparently wiser ( and perhaps a little forgetful as far as past behavior is concerned). It could be that things like this are all part of the lessons we must learn. You have a generous heart and I will pray for Cheryl and her family.

So sorry your stepdaughters didn't choose to see Mike before he passed. Please don't accept the blame they're placing on you. I'm glad you're able to pray for Cheryl and the family, and I'll join you. I'm behind in reviewing due to illness, so if I missed something else, I apologize and will catch up soon. Blessings. Carol

My heart believes in forgiveness no matter how many times I end up regretting it. Hope you are well. I too am behind due to illness. It sucks!

I'm so sorry what has happened, Carol. The family now needs your be prayers and you're prepared to give it to them. And that's how it should be.
I don't believe in any religion, but I respect all who do. We're all into our own. Ulla:)))

Of course we are and I have no problem with that. My religion lies in my heart, not in a church. It's sad that the girls have to face this tragedy and recognize how it tears a family apart when they can't be with those they love. I know it's what their dad would want me to do. Thanks for the review, Ulla. Have a terrific day!
Hugs, Carol

Many times it takes something drastic to make people break down and accept the Lord. It's sad it has to be something so heartbreaking, and hopefully all the prayers won't come to late. But, just maybe they will remember the feelings of helplessness without God. Thanks for sharing.

His daughters seemed so cold when Mike passed, he wasn't perfect but he did deserve so much more than they gave. I am sorry that they are experiencing this heartbreak and maybe a miracle will happen. For the children, I pray it does.

Me too! Some times it takes something like this to open people's eyes. Hugs, Ric

It's a wonder God didn't put our eyes in the back of our heads....Hindsight seems to work so much better. LOL

First, I'm so sorry about Mike's daughter having to be going through such a rough time. It's a shame how many don't give a second thought about the Lord until death is staring them in the face. But, I guess sometimes that's what it takes for so many of us. I have all of you in my thoughts and I am praying not just for her but all the family as they face the present and accept the future for whichever way the Lord is paving their pathways.

Hi, Patty! Hope you are doing better and are sliding into home base with recovery.
As for Mike's girls... I was the best while caring for their dad. They always said, they couldn't have done it and he was blessed to have me. Then, when things got really bad and I knew he wanted to see them so bad, I guess they didn't like the pressure. It's their loss. I pray Cheryl makes it through and the Lord remains at her side.
Hugs, Carol

I will pray for Cheryl, and that she may come to know Him who holds out His arms to her, And also for the others in her family. How tragic. But how wonderful that in their time of need, they came to you, knowing that you know the One. And yes, when eternity is at stake, forgiveness becomes not only possible but real, and doable, for that is the outworking of His transforming love. Praying for you too. Underneath everything you have their respect, and rightly so. May you be blessed with super-natural wisdom from above.

I feel blessed that Cheryl's oldest reached out to me and later one of the daughters, but more importantly, maybe they have seen and understand about losing someone you care so deeply about, especially since Covid keeps them from spending those last hours together. WE can pray it's only a wake-up call and they'll have more time.

this was heartwretching, so much pain, misunderstandings and unnecessary anger. I believe they loved their father very much, why they did not come to visit will no doubt haunt them. he is in a place of peace.

I hated to let my husband go, but I knew he was going to be much better off. No more suffering and no more hoping his girls would come. Thank you for understanding and for the review.

Heartrending/warming. Compelling piece--you masterfully incorporate and contrast the demoralizing backstory with the stunning turn-around. As to Cheryl's dismal chances, such was the prognosis for the 34-year-old woman I wrote about recently, who'd been in the ICU for corona and suffered 3 cardiac arrests -- happily, she's been discharged and is expected to make a full recovery. Stunning narration.

A few friends have reached out and shared some miraculous recovery stories so for the family's sake, I hope they will be blessed. Thanks again, Liz.
