I am a tree lover and I have the luck to be surrounded by pine forests and woods ( chestnut trees galore).
I like the term Elders and you managed to rhyme wood with stood.
We often say : if only trees could talk they would have much to say ..
Well actually, they can still tell us much despite they lack speech .
With an increment borer a researcher has the opportunity to read their history via their rings : age , if the weather was extremely cold or if some exceptional disaster occurred in a particular year.
Walking through the woods, I feel a connection with these sentinels as if they are watching me.
and especially those imposing ones they have character just like a person.

Your Methuselah is doing great in the contest! I am about to put my headphones on and finish the film about him/her. What an incredible story. I am awed at the determination of this species life force. Alive almost 5 thousand years! Alive before Christ - way before Christ!! It's just incredible. Thanks for posting it.

Trees are sentinels protecting us in numerous ways. They have truly survived a long time. I can't imagine all the history they have survived. My wonder grows stronger the larger the trunk. Good luck in the contest.

Yes some of them are ancient. There are many here in BC that are 800 years old. Think of what they know..
