Thank you for taking us along with you on this walk through the dell. I enjoyed meandering among the ancient trees listening to little critters scurrying about. Mist likely complaining about the stranger(s)! I loved this!

Lovely picture and a beautiful poem. I could really get the sense of the scene you've described to us and I bet you returned home with a cloak of peace around you. Lovely,
cheers,

Yvonne,
I like how you re-introduced the title in the last line.
This is a very excellent piece of poetry...wonderful
imagery, meter and rhymes.
Perfect artwork was chosen to present with your
beautiful piece.

This is an exceptional poem in all respects--made me smile and say "Ahhhh." The ballad-style form is perfect for your lovely recounting of a day of being the stranger in the woods. Lovely blend of literal and figurative language.

Thank you so much. Thank you for pointing that the parts you like. Nothing so calming as being out in nature.

Hello Yvonne.
This is a very well-done poem in ballad form. The content has a "warm and soft" feeling that surrounds the reader with pleasant sensations carried by the words.
Suggestion>>>
To keep the strict 8-6-8-6 meter for ballad style you might consider changing the last two lines of the third stanza to the following:
"The emperor of nighttime and
its many tiny czars."
It uses the "enjambment" technique by moving "and" to the third line without changing the meaning, and it keeps the strict ballad meter.

The animals' bush telegraph never lets them down. you have to have more patience than Job himself if you want to be a David Attenborough. Those little critters are on to you as soon as you enter their realm.
