Thank you for sharing your lost with us in this beautiful poem. I will pray for you. Your poem is hard to read because of the pain. I have missed your writing and am glad I was able to read this one.

Wow, great to hear from you, Barb! Thanks for reading, all the stars, and your wonderful insight. You are right, we parted after high school. I enlisted in the US Navy a few months after graduation, but I read about her brief romances, in letters from my Mom and my brother. I was overseas when my Mom wrote that this beautiful, sensitive young girl had taken her own life. Always believed that if I had been there, perhaps I could have saved her.

A deeply touching soliloquy in words and poetry, spoken loudly and clearly in the silence of these words, you quite obviously miss the person, and it brings that measure of knowing that it is heard and appreciated. I think there's a lot of things we can't explain, we are still connected to the physical realm so we only hear through a wall of sound, beautifully written, blessings Roy

Hi Roy, thank you for reading, all the stars, and your touching insight! You are right, I still miss this girl, and feel as long as I honor her memory, she will be with me, in my heart.
Many things we cannot explain or even understand while we are earth-bound, but hey, "Further Along?"
Bless you and yours,

First I want to tell you how I love the picture you chose for this poem, and second, I think this is a beautiful remembrance for someone you cared about. You express your love and sweet memories quite vividly and the images created are strong and memorable. Well done, Irish! My last six is yours.

This poem brings out the folk ballad lover in me. It sounds like Irish/Scottish balladry filtered through Appalachian hollows.
The authenticity is striking. A stunning take on ages-old laments.
I love this line: The begging carpet, soft and fragrant.
Outstanding, irish!
Peace, Lee
