"The next time you feel down and somewhat dejected
Do something nice and unexpected
Find someone homeless and give them a meal
Watch as they eat and see how you feel
................I felt this was your smoothest reading stanza and summed up the basic gist of the contest's theme of "Hope" most accurately.

Very well done.
Best of luck to you in the contest...

very very good ...nice message...it kind of brings to mind a rap song...dont take that as criticism.. rap is a very unique way of sending a message with poetic words, just they add music...yours is its own

Good on you. Spot on. Hope certainly should not be some idle, non productive excuse, but it becomes so strong when passed on to another. Your poem was such an elegant reminder of this.

But sometimes
hope" is all that remains, so come off your "high horse" and start feeling a little deeper and more sensitive towards others who at times have what seems "hopeless lives, through no fault of their own. Have a happy day! Tony

Very interesting poem and concept. As I read your poem, I was at first, put off, but you lead the reader (me) to see the true meaning of hope. Which is to give it away. The last two stanzas are very thoughtful and deep. You obviously thought a lot about this concept of hope. It flows well; the rhyme scheme is fine; but the message is by far the best part of your poem. Thank you for reminding me of the true meaning of hope. Good luck with the contest!

Peace, Jesse

Very good poem about faith, and hope. Good word flow, and rhyming make this one easy to read, and understand. Very good, and real message about how we must do something, without action faith is dead.

I loved it and can really relate. You presented a problem and described the emotional and physical phases one can go through when depressed. You offered a solution and I believe that someone when down and after they read your poem, will laugh at themselves and attempt to do a right. This poem should be in Readers Digest as a ponder able.

I work with special Needs people and everyone has multiple physical and mental disabilities but to a person if they are down, they rise up and are more than willing to help a fellow person.

Yes indeed, God helps those that help themselves. Wish in one hand and s--t in the other and see which one fills up the quickest. Faith and hope are great but you gotta put in some elbow grease as well.

Actions speak louder than words, and possibly thoughts if one was to follow your philosophy..And, if a young child or two or more are present when a mother finds herself down and out, as your picture seems to present by your poetry, is a decision that could mean paying someone to take care of that child or children and her working just might not be worth it.. Taking advantage of possibly a free educational program with free day-care is probably better., If this persona's government will pay for it....Fat chance, these days. And, too people, yes can help so many organizations to feed the poor is another good way to help those who are going through some hard times...Though, I felt your poem seem to contradict itself. Though, you did have very good rhyme pattern going.

Best Wishes for your entry...Caressa_08

A good poem, and I agree hope and faith work best when you have a full tummy. I like the ideas of the poem, pick yourself up and keep moving forward cause no one is going to do it for you. Very good writing.
