I've followed this story since your first posting but I don't remember you explaining the connection between Paul and Anna, why Troy was excited to tell Paul, and why Paul was happy to tell his wife. Maybe in the future postings. I will keep on reading this story. Also, it shows how good of a writer you are. It seems that you've researched how attorneys deal with cases like this. The dialogue seems real to me.

Okay, you have missed a lot from previous posts. Troy's mother was murdered in front of Troy by his step father. Paul and Betty raised him. So Paul and Betty are basically Troy's parents. Does that make it more clear. Thank you for reading.

I do remember that part but what i was looking for was the connection between Paul and Anna coz Troy was excited to tell Paul that he had found Anna. But maybe you'll explain it in proceeding chapters.

Paul visited Anna in the hospital and has agreed to be her lawyer.

this is very well written, barbara, i enjoyed reading this chapter where troy's father met with anna and went over her options with her, and she signed the papers she needed to

Barbara,
This is an excellent chapter that explains some of a battered woman's options, in the guise of the conversation between Anna and Paul. I enjoyed reading this post and have one suggestion:
"All right, I will meet you at [the] coffee shop by the Nature and Science Center in the morning."

barbara:
This is another excellent chapter. It is imperative any person who is in a domestic abuse situation have a clear cut exit plan to ensure not only her/his safety but also that of any children involved. Way too often, we hear about children who are murdered because parents want to get back at each other.
Thanks for sharing
One small piece of spag for you below

This story is still so engrossing and I find myself looking at them as real people. If this was a book, it would be a page turner. Well done. I'll be patient. I am glad to hear you found a way to have less pain.

Hi, Barbara. Can I sigh with relief now? Oops, why do I feel anxious like Anna did? I'm sure it is because this story is so well written. I'm glad you added your author notes about the characteristics of a batterer. It helps readers understand.

Hullo Barbara ....
Anna is, indeed, fortunate to have the help and support of Troy, his father Paul and his Aunt Margaret and this is a very interesting chapter with no changes to suggest.
Now, I look forward to the next chapter.
Love from ...... Nanette Mary.

This story continues to flow and sound true to the situation. It is a harrowing way for anyone to have to live but sadly many do. I'm looking forward to more.
