Yes but even when we sail a ship we have to come home again. Thanks for the great review.

nice- I know that feeling well- the picture is so perfect!
I've always said that we must take what we're told as guides but not solid truth- we must evolve from where the great teachers of the past left off- we must take their knowledge and integrate it into our experience- this touches on that- you're definitely a ship setting sail unless you choose to just listen without question- then you're chasing your tail.

That was a good analogy. i think to get an A we try to convince ourselves we have become the teacher. but it wears off in time. thanks for the great review.

excellent question, i've often wondered about the wisdom of teaching children, students to ..think like we think,...nothing would ever change, if everything stayed the same, thanks for sharing this witty observation.

I really like this poem. In other words, are we going to stand up and be ourselves and not think like others OR thinking like others and just chasing our tail? I like how you chose your words for this, like using 'think' in different ways. I really enjoyed. . .Sharon

no what i ment to say is we can change our thinking for a while but we always end up where we started with our own thoughts. thanks for the great review.
reply by ArtGal on 30-Aug-2010
Of course, we go by what we're taught but still have our meanings in mind, thanks.

Perhaps, a bit of both. You limit yourself, however, by restricting yourself to ships and dogs. Throughout life you will be many things

An excellent piece.

1. I love the usage of metaphor and the rhythm.

2. A good selection for Art work, it gives the topic good emphasis.

3. You reveal someone who is developing mentally.
We can all relate. We are and were being molded by our parents/teachers and continue to be molded by life's experiences.
-------
I feel your hands upon me,
molding me.
Teaching me to think,
like you think

4. My favorite, I get this a lot from my son's :-)
------
I will think,
like you think.
For a while,
anyway.

Keep up the good work.

A fine poem. We learn some things in the college, and we have to think like our professors to clear the exams and move on in life. College is only a launching pad. How one uses the knowledge acquired in the college depends entirely on him.
However, I didn't like the expression dog chasing my own tail-it is not a standard expression as far as I know.

I like the chasing of words with "think." Intentional? the poem is peppy, frisky; just like a dog chasing his tail. Fun to read.

do you mean using the same word twice. no it was not intentional but it was supposed to be peppy. Thank you.

You are quite welcome. I really did like how you used "think" several times in a row. :-)

Especially as you say this is about what we learn in college. It's so true and you've expressed it well. Great artwork adds to your nice presentation.

Sometimes it seems, in college, that we are like a dog chasing his tail. Around and around we go. Where we'll stop no one knows. This is a short poem but it has good detail and imagery. Welcome to fanstory. ann
