You portray a longingly poignant and deeply meaningful sense of attachment to person and place in this lovely poem. You've integrated nature and sensuality well.

This is a well written ode in honor of a lost loved one. It shows how deep your love was and how much this forest meant to both of you. It gives clear images of both the forests and the waters.

I loved the picture and the words. It made me think of loved ones who are not here any more and I liked the way the poem flowed. Thank you for sharing and take care.

Comment from Frank Malley
This is a powerful poem about love lost to death; that love is celebrated in memory as the narrator strolls through a woodland where he and his beloved deceased had walked and made love amid the splendor of a gentle day. The emotional grasp of "Forest Memories" is gentled by the use of sussurant diction and choice of imagery. I felt educated by this poet's tranquil but solemn use of tetrameter and enjambment.

Hi Frank, I am awed by your insight and your knowledge of the methods used to try and illustrate the scene, and bring the memory of this love to life. I was overseas in the US Navy when I learned his beautiful, sensitive young girl had taken her life.
No note, no apparent reason.
Thank you for the Exceptional rating, I am humbled.
Take care,

How beautiful. You have written of a beautiful and enduring love, with fine imagery. Are the Spanish galleons cloud formations? It is a very lyrical piece of writing, composed with skill.

Very powerful mediation on losing a friend. Unfortunately, as we get older, it becomes part of life. The other day I heard of five deaths, one a famous composer I liked, another an athlete from my high school, my college roommate's mother whom I recall fondly, and the elder brother of an old friend.

Hi, Jake, thank you for reading, your thoughts, and all the stars! You are so right there, I have only three high school classmates left, and just lost one of my last friends a month ago, from cancer. I am the last of my original family alive.
Growing older is a trial, a gift, a challenge.
Cheers, irish

A very touching poem. It is crystal clear what this person meant to you. Not bad on the rhyme and meter. The Spanish galleons have me a little confused.

Hi, Paul, thank you for reading, and all the stars! The galleons are tall, majestic clouds, floating slowly by, in an azure sky-I shoulda been more clear there.

This is truly beautiful, sad, and heartfelt. The story of someone you cared for deeply that is gone, makes this poem hauntingly poignant. I love the picture you chose.

Hi, Beth, thank you for reading, your kind thoughts, and all the stars.
Years later, after we graduated from high school parted ways, I was overseas in the US Navy when my Mom wrote and told me this young beautiful girl had taken her life.
Take care, irish

Hi, Tom, thank you for your thoughtful review, your condolence, and all those stars.
I still remember her, and what an amazing romance we had. Didn't realize at the time how magical everything was, too young.
Take care, irish

Isn't that the truth Irish? All too often we don't realize what we have until it's gone. I'm glad you had what so many in the world only dream about.
