Dear Sandra, I found this post an excellent education for both children and their adult or older sibling care taker, all tied up in one very neat package.
Even two year olds will love the picture and the poem, an audio-visual package on animals, geography,diet,anatomy. . . . have I left anything out?

I learned so much today I don't know where to begin what I found most interesting. I'd have to say the nose glowing theory is at the top of the list. That and how their entire body is equipped to thrive in harsh weather. How they can run so fast starting from day one. Your chapter is very interesting, fun, factual. Thank you for sharing this.

I once saw a document concerning your post. Russia I think. I was impressed with how the people raised them as we do cattle and ride them as we do horses.
Very interesting write. Our deer here also have velvet before the horns matured.

Thank you, Jim. It was strange to come across the Rudolf part. I don't know if the original creator knew about Rudolf's nose. I've added a piece at the end of this for you to read. I decided not to put it in because I didn't want to completely take away the magic of Rudolf's nose....
Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer was created by the department store chain Montgomery Ward as one way to save money on some of their annual Christmas promotions. Robert L. May created Rudolph in 1939 as an assignment for the department store. May's brother-in-law later wrote the song.
I tell you, Jim, you learn such a lot doing this researching lark!

This was great, Sandra. I can not thinking of a more majestic creature that is more deserving of the letter R. Because of Canada's cold, ice and snow filled areas I am very familiar with reindeer. However, I did not know about the two cold seasons that caused their deaths. Such a shame. I enjoyed reading about them, you put it together very well. Very much enjoyed. A high five to Graham. But, after researching these fascinating animals, I would very much like to. They are incredible. I was so sad to find out how the global changes are killing these and so many other animals, between those changes and the human killing element, most don't stand a chance.
