It's said that a picture's worth a thousand words. You've captivated a small documentary in a fraction of the words that might have been associated with a picture. Very thorough in your story poem. Good luck with the contest.

Thank you for sharing this wonderful adventure in Africa in rhymed couplets in quatrains. I was fascinated by all the wildlife you saw and your description of the "circle of life". The artwork you selected reinforced the scene perfectly. Cheers and best wishes in the contest- Joan

Did you visit Africa recently? The well rounded imagery, the captivating story of a generous trek through the country's finest hotspots, you've penned them all exquisitely and told your story without error or edit revisions needed. I wish you all the best in the contest. Nothing I would revise. The entire package is well presented.

A very well-written story in a poem about an eventful visit to Africa where nature is still untouched in places and the wild animals rule the area in their own unique way.

Since my childhood I have been fascinated by Africa and the animals of that continent. Nothing quite as majestic as an elephant, a giraffe, a rhino... My heart breaks when I hear the danger of extinction--say, of black rhinos, because of poachers killing them for their horns. I don't suppose I'll ever get close to any of these (other than in captivity in zoos) in real life, but your poem highlights the majesty of their existence.

Hi Diana. This is an outstanding piece that I enjoyed reading. I had been to Africa many times while flying for an airline years ago. Thankfully, I did not go on a photo safari and did not experience what you have relayed here. You poem is straightforward, interesting and graphic. Much luck in the contest with this fine entry. Beas Peas... I'm humbled and honored for your wonderful and thoughtful review... It was really about seeing the circle of life. If I saw it on TV I would turn the channel... Strange huh?

An excellent write, Diana. I cannot watch these shows on TV or, worse, seeing it in real life. When my husband was watching the nature shows, I left the room and went onto the computer. Sure as anything, I knew some poor animal would be eaten. He would say, "That's nature!" Yes, I know, but I couldn't watch it. But, I'm vegetarian and don't eat meat or fish either. But that's my preference. Can't think of anything worse than being slaughtered for food. Your piece was very well done, so no need to apologize for a terrific write. Marilyn

You did a great job with your poem about your African trip. It reads well, the art is perfect, & the rhymes. When I saw the beautiful picture, I wanted to read it right then. After a few lines, I became discouraged. But I returned. What you have written is true, but sad that it focused on the food pyramid rather than the beautiful animals or other 'things' to see. I know it is your choice to write & my choice to read. Jan

This is a very beautiful and enjoyable poem. And reading your words, I felt I was right there in Africa. Also, your in depth Author's Notes were interesting as well. Plus, you also reminded me that we're still part of the "food chain". Take care Diana.
