Do you remember?
Sticks and stones may break my bones; but words can never hurt me.
Such a lie!
Your words are painfully true. Regardless of age, words do cut like knives.

Yes, I remember, LaRosa and you're right, it isn't true.
Thanks for weighing in on this.
Enjoy your day.

Excellent. So true. Kids need every positive thing we can give them to feel
good about themselves and pass it own to their own kids. Nicely presented
and worded. Marilyn

I love this poem because I always believed that words are the most powerful weapons as it can emotionally hurt others compared to just physical weapons. Emotional pain can last for a lifetime with just words. I wrote a poem awhile back about this though it hasn't been published. Great work!

Depends on the child. Always wise to blunt the screech. Looks like a fine Haiku
to one who has steadfastly refused to study Haiku. Definitely a valid message.

wounds heal, words said in hate never do. PTSD tells it all for this mentally abused ex wife. this is all so true and very well stated

The problem with rejection, is that one remembers the rejection for all their life, and unless one meets the one who can erase the pain, it becomes a life sentence, leaving its imprint on one's psyche. Well done Dean, you've presented this perfectly, excellent post, blessings, Roy

Oh yes my friend harsh words can be very damaging and cause so much pain which sometimes have a lasting impact on a person some people don't think before they speak well done regards Jill

Excellent horror haiku flows well (not always easy using lots of alliteration!) and speaks a great truth using very few words. Perfectly horrible use of artwork, color and font. Great job!

whoa dean that is pretty poignant and your picture accompanying says it all. Dean can I ask you something? from the day you found the passion to write was the majority of your subject matter one of morbidity and horror? Did your fascination for this start at an early age? What did your ex think of these writes because i gather you were together long before you started writing this genre
Just curious

sorry Dean I didn't mean to pry.

No worries, dipster.
I've stated several times in my author's notes that I never wrote dark poetry or stories until my near death experience and out of body experience in 2010 after I'd suffered a major heart attack. I was dead for nearly four full minutes.

Very true. The book of Proverbs has much to say about how cruel words can cause tremendous harm. Like the simile and the dramatic imagery in alliteration at the end.
