Pondria's Folly. A chapter in the book THE TRINING Book Three. Cleaning Lady at the Palace Ball.' I am forever amazed at the way you keep on churning out these chapters as if you already have a never-ending supply of it. Very well done.

LOL, is that the European way of saying, "hurry wrap it up."? Thanks, Chas. Appreciate your reading it.

No, its when you are a master writer when things like that get said.

SOoooo!!! It seems that Doctrex DOES have hidden magic powers that we didn't know about before this chapter.
Very informative chapter.
Even when he's in the pen, he seems to have power over his captors.
Good job of "Show, don't tell."

Thanks much, Trumby. I have a hunch we'll be seeing a tad more of Pondria's magic.

Jay, with this chapter about the cleaning lady, I notice a theme which sets your novel apart from other fantasy novels. You place emphasis on the minor who help make up the empire. You have written chapters about tailors, cooks, soldiers, cleaning maids, and other servants. The novel is told through their eyes and reaction as much as through Doctrex. These minor characters help make the novel. Most fantasy novels focus on the big people. You focus on the small.
I also observe your use of twins. I am reminded of Romulus and Remus who founded Rome. You tap into universal myths and weave a new story incorporating motifs and giving them a spin.
You prose is fresh and compelling. I do not know how this novel is going to end, but I am enjoying the ride. Thank you for sharing.

As usual, Andre, you've pulled out all the stops in your analysis of my novel. You might have just touched on an unconscious driving force the writer possesses, but didn't know. The twin theme I know is Archetypal, but I think conjoined twins is a mythical first. I'm so happy you're enjoying this, Andre. Bless you for the sixer!

Jay, I just listened to a Shakespeare Appreciated audio performance of Macbeth, after I saw the play in Berkeley. The in depth analysis of the psychology of the characters were so intriguing that I immediately thought of your book. Have you read or seen Macbeth yet? It had prophecies, witches, battles. You should give it a try. We have been reading it for 400 years.
-
I read Macbeth in college, but after 50 years I may be able to pick up a few more insights. LOL, I was studious then, but not too insightful. Thanks for thinking of me.

Jay, I just finished an audio commentary and performance of Macbeth for the first time. Even though you read it 50 years ago, you should read it again. I am amazed how so many books and movies have been influenced by it: Lord of the Rings, The House of Cards, Star Wars, the list goes on. It is a key play upon which so much of our literature is based. If you have Audible, I may me able to send it to you for free. I next turn my attention to Hamlet. Cheers.
-
Thanks for the offer, Andre. I have audio on my Kindle Fire, if that's what you mean, and of course on my computer.
But you don't have to send anything for free. Just let me know where to get it--if I have that "audible" stuff.
Again, I'm moved that you care.

www.audible.com get the Shakespeare Appreciated addition of "Macbeth: Shakespeare Appreciated: (Unabridged, Dramatised, Commentary Options)." It is 6 hrs and 55 mins long. I am now moving on to Hamlet and all of Shakespeare's plays.

The prose flows well. Your descriptions are good and I really liked the cleaning lady - more than your protagonist, at least in this chapter. I was rather hoping that she really would get to go to the ball. You kept my interest throughout. Good dialogue as well.
