Sue - That's funny. All I see when I look at that photo are the tits. No cellos, no violins, no layers. Just tits. Am I that shallow? Don't answer that. LOL. Just pulling your leg and enjoyed your deep poem about artistry and its effects on the person looking or hearing a piece of art. I also enjoyed the rhyme scheme and flow of the read. Shallow Charlie

Shallow Hal, at least you admit it's the tits! LOL!! (did you see that movie, Shallow Hal?) Too funny!! Although we women know that the tits are everything, we STILL don't know why. Biggest mystery, second only to the Big Bang Theory! LMAO!!! Thanks for your attempt of a deep review while staring at the painting. Excellent effort! Sue :-))

Sue, I love the final stanza best for its explanation of the arts as therapy for all artists, which I firmly believe it is. Great job! :)

I feel creativity is when one paints, plays a musical instrument, writes and even working in the garden, are all creative in their own way. I feel talking and singing can be creative as well.
I loved the painting and all the creative words written here.
Great Writing.

Singing could well have been one of the first "arts". There's something about melodic tones that reach into our depths. Thanks for commenting on the painting. A friend of mine showed me some of the works of this artist and I felt in love with this piece. Thanks so much, Honeytree, for your lovely review. So glad you enjoyed this piece. With regards, Sue

The rhying and meter were perfect on this one, as always. This was an easy poem to read. The technical aspects of your poetry are always spot on (rhyme meter rythem etc). It makes it very easy to read your stuff. It can be read out loud or silently. Both are easy. Thanks for sharing- Sam

(It's like, six-fifty-something in the AM here, and I'm still just waking up, but I'm having trouble figuring out what these two stanzas have to do with the rest of the poem. Can you clarify it for me?)I came upon a garden bed
Abundant colors cried so bold
One tender hand enriched this soil
For eyes to capture and behold
These innate efforts to express
Became fresh air which brought to life
Such master strokes of balanced acts
To conquer death and human strife
Other than the problems mentioned above, it read like a nice, clean iambically metered piece to me.

As I mentioned in my author's notes, the need to create and to observe the arts is a vital part of life. As painting, music, poetry, dance is artistic, gardening is another great artistic endeavor. That stanza also represents our needs, as humans, to be surrounded by and appreciate beauty of all aspects. The last stanza (read author's notes) is one possible "reason" we humans have the need to create. "These innate efforts to express" refers to the previous four stanzas. And "To conquer death" is metaphorical for how the arts do live on. And to conquer "human strife" is at the heart of arts; Creating beauty to balance out or express the human condition. I hope this helps. Thank you for your close read and very kind review. With regards, Sue

Gosh Sue, you're sure getting deep on us these days! What a beautiful poem. I love how you've written it as though you're pondering all these things. It's written with wonderful rhyme and perfect rhythm. I really love it.

This is really nice, Sixteeskid. You raised a question that is very relevant. Certain works of art baffle us and makes us wonder what must have inspired them. You captured it beautifully in this nice piece. kudos

This is a really nice poem with an excellent theme. I was tossing up whether the fourth verse was stretching the theme... maybe a little superfluous - you had very successfully made the point with the previous three verses. But maybe I am just a grumpy old man :)
A thoroughly enjoyable read.

Loyd, I'm so glad you enjoyed this. Yes, each artist expresses in whatever form and the rest of us are blessed to witness and take it in as we wish. Thank you so much for your lovely review. With regards, Sue

It was my pleasure.
I have hit a situation where I will not have as much time to review for a while. Blessing to you, LOyd
