A clever piece of verse,
with a smooth flow and
good rhyme, but as melencholy
as its title and the artwork.
Regards,
Margaret.

Hi, Sue.
Lovely to see you back, and with a bang. I LOVE this AAAB rhymescheme, and your 8886 flow is wonderful along with the sad message so personally and poetically described.
Depression seems so widespread (if that's any consolation) and the darkness shines (scuse pun) here.
All around is positive and all you want is night so you can blank it all out. Brilliant! Love, Ray xx

This is a very melancholic and sensible poem. I like the rhythming of your words and the flow. Some phrases are haunting, such as "I foresee darkness lurking low."

Your poem shouts depression. The imagery is great and the artwork really brings out the true feelings of the poem. It flowed nicely and you did a great job.

Dark and brooding, reminiscent of Sylvia Plath. Great writing. Didn't take a lot of words as these were well chosen. Great write. joan marie

Nicely done poem on a very sad subject. You manage to convey the feelings of depression in a very poetic way. This was short and to the point. Nice job.

Your "streets," "lighthouse" and "clock" are all such symbolic metaphors. I think you are correct about the coming of Spring causing a "depressive" response for some. I heartily enjoyed your strong, less common rhyme scheme and your powerful title and picture.
(I went searching for your work, since it was not popping up, and I was so rewarded.)

This is a very thought -provoking poem. Depression is a harsh illness and you identified some of the feelings-good things out there, but only seeing the worst in everything."But barren is my mind" is a strong line as are some others. The conclusion is very good as is the entire poem. Good job. Good thoughts your way.

Well you nailed it Sue because this was a very depressing read. It's so sad to read a piece that ends without hope. I trust you don't really feel that way. Well versed and rhymed, just very sad

Depression has been a sidekick of mine for years now. Comes and goes. For sure, he's with me now. I've been trying to write for 3 days now. This was all that came out. Sorry to bum you out! :-) Thanks for your review, Jude....Sue

Sorry to hear. Just remember, there is always "hope is the thing with feathers that perches in the soul" Emily Dickinson knew her stuff.
