This gave me a much needed smile. Well written. I read and reread it a few times before sending back my comments. Loved the picture that went with this piece as well.

Paradox, nature can make us smile, as it is a gift to witness. I'm so happy you felt this work depicted it well enough to receive your highest rating. To know it gave you a smile is the best prize of all! Again, thank you for your most generous review. Very much appreciated...Sue

It was deserved.

I enjoyed reading this well crafted 5-7-5 Haiku. You've successfully observed the requirements of the form and produced a striking image here.
I like the alliteration of v sounds you use here.
Nicely done.

Your last line kicker is GREAT here. I love the metaphor, and I happen to love cardinals as well. I always thought it unfair that the males get to wear the pretty coat, though. :)

So, you liked my satori! Makes me so happy!! Been practicing these haiku and felt confident with this one. Well, you know how hard men have to work to get that woman....they'd better have charm and a few other things! HA! Thanks for your review. Best to you, Sue

You have done it again with a simple but lovely poem. I appreciated your author notes about the cardinal. You really do your research. Your poem is short and sweet. Very nice.

Let me tell you how little I know about the intricacies of poetry. When you put "A 5-7-5 Haiku", I had no clue what that meant until I started reading poetry on this site! But now that I know, I can see that you have successfully written one, and a beautiful one at that. I like the last line. I never really thought about a cardinal looking like it's wearing a mask - very creative!

I didn't know a haiku from a sonnet when I came here! HAA!!! I love the cardinal! Had to write about them. I am OVERWHELMED by your "exceptional" rating! Because I've working hard on haiku and this is thrilling for me! Thank you SO much for this awesome review! **big smiles** - Sue
